Work Text:
Enid was awoken by a thud outside their window. Confused she decided to check it out. To her horror Wednesday is passed out lying at the rotating panel blocking her from getting to her, in a panic she slams it open and rushes out dragging her inside. “Please be alright…!?” Panicking she checks and stumbles upon the gash on Wends forehead. The gash was 2x3 inches and surprisingly deep.
“Oh god… what happened here?” Grabbing Wednesday she tries to not spiral and is starting to have a panic attack. Vision blurring she freaked out calling for Thing. “THING!! THING!! HURRY AND GET HELP NOW!” Scrambling out the door Thing was determined to get Yoko to help calm Enid down and the headmaster. Knocking heavily on Yoko’s door buzzing with anxiety, once the door opens he signs rapidly. Yoko is confused and looks down “Whoa buddy slow down. I can’t understand you.” Frustrated he signs slower. “She what?! Damn that pesky goth what did she do this time?” Rushing out the door Thing struggles to keep up, while looking behind “Go get the headmaster and meet us in their room.” Yoko orders Thing to do in a stern, concerned voice. Bolting into the room witnessing Enid having a panic attack while holding Wednesday, Enid didn’t realize Yoko has already entered the room.
Her tears streaming down her face, snot running and tunnel vision blinding her and worsening with each minute while shaking out of fear that Wednesday won’t wake up. Noticing she can smell her friend “Yoko… Is that you?”
“Yes, it’s me.” “Are you okay?” Yoko responds with in concern while rushing in to comfort Enid in a heartwarming embracing hug. While hugging Enid, Enid starts to hiccup sobbing about Wends worried if she’ll wake up soon. Sensing Enid’s conflict Yoko squeezes her more reassuring her she’ll wake up. Groaning from pain Wends touches her temple disoriented. Yoko notices her waking first. “Enid look, she’s coming around.” Hearing what Yoko said Enid glances down hearing Wends trying to get up, freaking out she holds her down.
“Don’t move Wednesday, you sustained a head injury.”
Busting the door open the headmaster instantly starts questioning “What’s going on in here, Thing told me Wednesday was injured.”
Chuckling wearily Enid replies “I did, I found her unconscious outside on the patio and when I went to inspect bringing her inside I found a gash on her forehead.”
“I see, and how is she now?”
“Oh she’s—”
“I’m fine, it’s just a minor scratch.” Wednesday interrupts with, making Enid mad.
“No the fuck not it ain’t.”
“You were out for over 10 goddammit mins.” Yoko scoffing in disbelief can’t understand Wednesday and is mad for giving Enid a heart attack and making her cry.
Trying to calm down the students and figure out what to do next. The headmaster decides to give Enid and Wednesday advice. “Well it seems everything is under control, however it seems Wednesday will need assistance to make it to the nurse to be checked out before returning back to bed.”
Grumbling Wednesday tries to stand up, as she proceeds to her legs start to buckle under and she starts falling. Just before hitting the floor Enid catches her. “You dummy, just let me carry you. I’ll make it faster.” Smiling as she tries to reassure Wends.
Wends refuses to let Enid take over, hearing a chuckle coming over from Enid’s snarky vamp friend, she gives Yoko a death glare with the message of shut the fuck up or you’ll regret it.
“I’m definitely taunting you forever with that short goth Enid.”
“YOKO DON’T YOU DARE!!” Blushing Enid whisks Wends up and rushes out of the room to the infirmary. Panting while carrying Wends bridal style she starts to get lost in her thoughts, I’m almost there, onlyyy 100 feet more. As a student is walking out Enid shoves past the student.
“We’re here.” Panting she tries to yell “Nurse….!” “She needs to be checked out as she fainted earlier and she as a gash on her forehead.”
Embarrassed Wednesday tries to get out of Enid’s arms, “Please let me down, this is preposterous. I’m not meant to be carried around like a pathetic kitten.” As she said kitten very sharply and harsh as she views kittens inferior. Turning around, glancing at the gash the nurse tsksed seeing how swollen and split it was.
“You’ll need stitches since that won’t heal on it’s own.”
Gulping and starting to hyperventilate, Wednesday glances at Enid and mentions “You aren’t getting stitches, why are you freaking out?”
“Still I don’t care, I don’t do well with stitches and shots.” Dry heaving she rushes out of the room, trying not to throw up and pass out. Sobbing her heart out, she can’t understand what Wends did to get seriously injured and will have to ask her later how it happened and all the details. There was no going back or trying to get out of the conversation very much needed.
Entering the room a few minutes later, Wednesday turns to look at Enid. “The stitches are done, we can return to the room now. It’s grating being here, I just want to sleep.”
Sighing, “Fine we can go back, but we need to have a serious talk once we return. No squirming out of this one.” She starts walking towards Wends with the intention to help her walk back to the dorm. Dodging her assist Wends tries to escape.
“I don’t need your help Enid, I can do this myself.” She rushes out of the room flustered, speed walking to their room giving a death glare at anyone who dares to looks in her direction. Finally she reaches the room and retires to her bed, prepping to sleep.
Enid is flabbergasted at the scene Wednesday created, still in shock she rushes after before she can fall asleep and avoid the conversation long overdue. Once she arrives to the room she gives Wednesday no time to turn around and respond.
“WE NEED TO TALK, NOW!” Frustrated Enid starts to ramble about everything. “You can’t just keep doing this, tell me what happened and honestly.”
“Fine, I’ll tell you, I went to investigate a noise I heard.. It was peculiar, once I stepped out onto the patio I turned around since I thought I heard you in the room and that’s all I remember since I got knocked out.”
In shock, Enid freaks out “WHAT?.. what— I thought you just fell. Not that something happened and you got knocked out. Oh god… Our room isn’t safe.”
Suddenly a whooshing sound appears and Enid watches Wends get knocked out again. Before she can act she also gets knocked out, falling to the floor with her eyes still on Wends. As Wednesday passes out she watches Enid’s internal conflict, wishing she could help. Enid didn’t realize Wends was still paying attention, as all that was on her mind was just making sure Wednesday was safe but she couldn’t anymore. Everything started to get darker and darker, sounds damping and fading to silence. What happened to both Enid and Wednesday, who got into their room? The only person who would know that is the stalker that they didn’t know they’ve had for weeks.
