Bug Bites

Summary:

What happens when Raphael turns into one of this biggest fears?

Work Text:

It was supposed to be a normal day. Well, as normal as any day could go while being a mutant turtle. It was supposed to be a simple mission. Take down some krang to stop whatever crap they're working on, and then go home and have some pizza or whatever they'd do after.

But nobody expected this to happen. Nobody expected to hear the blood-curdling screams of the hot-headed brother begging for help as his body shaped into one of his biggest fears, becoming a disgusting monster.

Nobody even knew double mutation was possible until it happened! Until Raphael became some weird turtle-beatle hybrid thing.

Raph loved his turtle body! He always thought that out of all his brothers, he was definitely the best-looking one! But now... Now he can't even look in the mirror and recognize himself. Now all he sees is a total freak because maybe that's just what he is.

12 hours before the incident

It was Wednesday, 2 pm. Donnie was doing some weird science work, which Raph never really understood, but respected. After all, it really became beneficial during missions. Leo was training with Master Splinter like always. Trying to be the "perfect" student, even though, to Master Splinter, he's already beyond perfect. I swear, Splinter treats Leo like some king while Mister Leader Boy treats him like a God! But Raph doesn't want to pick a fight right now; he knows better than that. So instead of joining them, which he knew would just make him irritated, he walked past the dojo. Mikey is talking to ice cream kitty while making some type of abomination in the kitchen. Raph suspects that it's supposed to be pizza, but it looks way too green and sluggish to be considered one. And April already warned the turtles that she was going to be studying the entire day for an upcoming test in geometry. That just left Casey.

Raph plunked down on the couch, wiggling himself to make sure he was arranged in the comfiest position. He grabs his T-Phone and calls Casey. As soon as his big green finger pushed the dial button, Casey immediately picked up. Casey had a rep where he wasn't really on or paying attention to his T-Phone (mainly because it had no games), and as soon as Don figured out how to add games to the Phone, Casey immediately became a lot more active. Trying to beat his high score on the new super jump game, Donnie implemented it on the device.

"Raph! What's wrong?! Did something happen?! Any of you in danger?" Casey asks as soon as he speaks, which, of course, would be his first assumption. Whenever the turtles call either April or Casey, they're often seen in a life-or-death situation. "Nah, all's chill," Raph responded calmly, "Just wanted to ask if we could hang." "Oh, of course, dude! Why didn't you say so!" Casey hollers back. Technically, Raph did say something, but he didn't wanna be all "well, erm, actually." That's more so Donnie's thing.

"Wanna come over to the lair? We just recently found an old video game that we apparently had, and I so wanna crush somebody's butt." Raph says. Even though Casey can't see Raph through the call, he can practically see his smug grin plastered across his face. "Hah! Not a chance," Case barks back. "Be there in a flash!"

Raph lifts his feet and waits for Casey to arrive. However, the wait wasn't that fast as Casey arrived only two minutes after the call. "You asked, you ordered, and you received!" Casey calls out with a huge toothy smile. "Sooooo... Where's the game that I'm gonna beat you at?!" "Ha! You wish! But I'm the one who's gonna crush you today, pretty boy."

Raph sits up from his perfectly comfy position and fetches a disk and some controllers. "Right here," he says, and he puts the disk into the TV and hands Casey one of the controllers. "Here ya go," his green hand grips the controller as his finger starts to unfold, successfully putting it into Casey's grasp.

"Thanks, man," he nods his head at Raph and starts to get comfy on the couch as well. His head is lying on Raph's shoulder, and even though Raph isn't the biggest fan of physical touch, he lets it slide for Casey.

Three hours quickly pass by until the game comes to a full halt, Raph ending up winning. "Whoa. Didn't even know they made games this long!" Casey hoots. He doesn't seem super upset about the defeat, though; he's mainly just happy to be hanging with his best bud. "Ugh, I know," Raph groans. Wiggling closer to Casey. They are practically on top of each other at this point, just enjoying each other's company.

9 hours before the incident

The game ends, so Raph and Casey just decide to talk for a while until Leo makes his grand entrance to the living room.

"Hey Raph, we need to head out. Donnie found some weird activity going on in some abandoned garage, and he suspects that it might be the Krang!"

Raph puts on a grin, amused that he can have some action going on. He picks up his sais and starts walking towards Leo when, suddenly, Casey goes flying up from his spot on the couch.

"Hold up!" He puts his hands in the air as if he got caught by the cops. "If there's gonna be some butt kicking action, then make sure to make some room for Casey Jones," he says smugly, now carrying a hockey stick and baseball bat behind his back.

"Alright, but this is a new area that we are uncovering, so just make sure you stay close!" Leo responds, and all three start heading toward the turtle tank. As soon as they step inside, they can already see Mikey and Don ready.

After roughly three minutes, they arrive and jump out of the vehicle.

"Okay, we all need to stay close toge-" Leo begins, but as soon as he turns his head to look at the others, he's left to spot nothing. "You know, sometimes I really wonder what the point is in being a leader if nobody bothers to even listen to me." He mumbles as he makes his way inside, frustrated that his group all just went their own ways. I mean, seriously! Have they not seen any horror movies?

9 hours before the incident: Mikey's pov

Mikey knew splitting up was a bad idea. I mean, out of all the comics and movies he's seen... Ya, splitting up is a huge no-go. But it wasn't exactly his fault! He just saw a cool frog wearing a hat! But sadly, the frog had to go away, but when he turned his head around to his family, HIS FAMILY IS GONE!! Did monsters eat them??? No, no... That would never happen... Maybe... I think. But it still wasn't his fault, cause like... Who in their right mind WOULDN'T go up to a cool frog wearing a hat?? That's the true question here! But regardless of that, he’s now alone in a place he doesn’t recognize! Now he could go on his T-phone to contact his brothers! If… He didn’t leave his phone with Ice Cream Kitty to play with. But she just seemed so bored and sad, so of course, he had to give her something to play with! In fact, it’d be criminal not to! And as the pet cat owner ever, he made sure to live up to the title!

So off he went, wandering around, when he found Donnie!

“Dee! There you are!”

Mikey runs up to him, opening his arms wide for a hug.

“I was sooo scared,” he said dramatically and almost a bit sarcastically too.

“B team grouped on a mission once more!” he cheered, wrapping his arm around Donnie’s shoulder.

“Don’t call us that!” Donnie groaned as he pulled out some weird device thingy. Mikey didn’t really know. “I’m currently tracking the weird disturbance I found earlier. It seems to be coming slightly more north-east.” He explained.

“Then what are we waiting for, dawg? Let’s go!”

Mikey pulled Donnie’s arm, and off they went. Hopefully, it’s not anything too bad. But if it is, then at least they know they can kick major shell! After all, the B team is unstoppable! Not to mention their sweet, sweet moves.

9 hours before the incident: Raph and Casey’s pov

“Phew, good thing we got away! I could not deal with another Leo lecture for today.”

“Ya, no kidding,” Casey replied half jokingly.

“So… What do you think Don saw on that device thing?” Casey asked Raph

“How am I supposed to know? All we know is that he spotted some ‘strange activity’, it could be a stray cat for all we know!”

“Pffft, imagine,” Casey snorted at the idea with a grin, bumping his shoulder into Raph’s in a playful manner. Raph bumped back, and next thing you know, they were on the floor wrestling with smirks spread across their faces, but they stopped as soon as Raph spotted a bug.

“AHHH!” He threw himself into Casey’s arms, “A BUG!!!” he screamed in terror

“Dude, it’s just a beetle. I thought you were only scared of cockroaches!”

“I’m not scared; I just—okay, fine! I’m scared of all of them,” he whispered into his neck, embarrassed to admit.

“Whoa, really?” Casey said in surprise. Raph shook his head, “ya, cockroaches are just the worst ones.”
“Dude,” Casey started, “It’s just a bug.”

“Just a bug!?” Raph fought back, “Have you seen those freaks?! With all those eyes and legs, it’s just-” he shivered in disgust. Casey just smirked as he put his arm around Raph’s shoulder, “Ah, fear not! For your knight and shining armor is here to protect you!” Raph shot up a grin and shook his head, “pfft dork,” he whispered to himself while Casey’s just swinging his hockey stick around like a fool trying to quote unquote “protect Raph.” He looked incredibly stupid, but it was almost kind of cute, so Raph let it slide just a bit till he groaned and grabbed Casey’s arm

“Ya, ya, you can swing that stick of yours around. Let’s continue looking,” He said as he started to pull Casey along. Just then, they stumbled upon an unusually strange room. One you can’t even begin to describe. Just stepping foot in the room felt like you were in a dream! The vibes were just so…of. But before they even had the chance to think of leaving, which, by the way, they wouldn’t have done anyway! They ain’t no wimp! The door shut, locking them inside.
