"But I don't understand."
"What do you not understand, Gojo?" You pinched the bridge of your nose in irritation. "I told you, we are not dating."
The look on Gojo's face was unbearably pathetic. "But last night... we kissed." He looked at the floor, his lips pressed like he was holding back tears. "Doesn't that make us girlfriend and boyfriend?"
You almost felt sorry for him. Or at least, you would, if he hadn't been practically stalking you the whole day. Gojo had seen you on campus that morning and beamed with the force of a thousand suns, immediately turning to walk at your heel.
Even when you'd hoped he'd quit when you went in class, he had simply entered right after you, explaining with a guiltless smile that he planned his schedule according to yours. Chills went down your spine at his words just then.
You looked at him now - trembling and on the verge of sobbing outside your dorm, his glasses slipping down his nose, fidgeting with the edge of his stupid Digimon t-shirt. It was almost comical, considering he was nearly a foot taller than you. Such a ridiculously large man reduced to this. All because you gave him a peck when you were drunk at a party.
Well. Maybe more than a peck. Your tongue was basically shoved down his throat. In your defense, you thought it was his twin brother and it was really hard to tell them apart when you were wasted.
"Don't say that like it was your first kiss or something," you barely managed to not scoff.
"...It was my first kiss actually," he flushed to the tips of his ears, refused to meet your eyes.
You turned silent, blinking stupidly.
"Are you serious?"
"Please, just give me a chance," Gojo abruptly clasped your hands. "I've liked you since freshman year, but you were always hanging out with my idiot brother," his voice turned disdainful. "He doesn't know you like I do."
You scoffed incredulously, snatching your hands away. "I've literally never even talked to you before, you don't know anything about me."
"You didn't have to," he replied, earnest. "I know what your drink order is, I know what perfume you wear, I know what music you like, I know who you're friends with-"
You gaped at him as he counted things off his fingers, like this was just a normal thing for a guy to do to a girl who's never spoken to him. Before he could ramble further, you stopped him.
"Listen, Gojo-"
"Toru," he blurted. "You can call me Toru."
"Toru," you relented. "I'm sorry about stealing your first kiss, okay? I honestly thought you were Sato." His mood instantly soured at that. "I'm sure there's plenty of girls who'd love someone as..." you grimaced as you searched for the right word. "Devoted, as you."
Toru stepped closer, his eyes suddenly intense. "I only want you, though."
The small skip of your heartbeat startled you. He suddenly resembled his brother a lot more. Your eyes trailed downwards, wondering if every part of him was similar.
"One date," he murmured, pleading. "I won't bother you again, I swear, I just want," his fingers hesitantly tucked a lock of hair behind your ear. "I just wanna show you what you deserve."
Warmth flooded your cheeks against your will. You sucked your teeth and looked away, already feeling your resolve crumble. Damn the Gojo brothers and their stupid puppy eyes.
"Fine."
Toru's head snapped up. "Really?"
"One date," you emphasized, poking his chest. "And it's just to piss your brother off. He's been kind of a dick lately."
"When is he not?" Toru scoffed, yet the way his foot fidgeted betrayed the glee he felt.
"Uh-huh," you deadpanned. "Give me your phone."
Toru pulled it out eagerly and unlocked it, handing it to you. He watched with a smile as you typed your number in, saved your contact. You gave it back with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't text me for anything else, got it? Just because I gave you a chance doesn't mean I won't change my mind."
"I promise I won't!" He nodded frantically. "You won't regret it, I swear."
"Get out of my room, Toru."
"Yes, ma'am."
