Work Text:
Ushijima wasn’t as observant as Tendou, but he wasn’t totally oblivious either. Even since the incident, he began to notice that Tendou was secretly a monster in human skin.
To clarify, he doesn’t see Tendou as a monster, the redhead is anything but that… but physically speaking, Tendou is a monster.
Ushijima was not aware that vampires existed, not until he met Tendou. But he learned that the movies exaggerated. Tendou was simply just… Tendou.
The ace had no issue with the fact Tendou survived off blood, or had fangs, or—sometimes—having eyes that glow crimson. He still fell in love with him. And he still cherishes him.
Though, the only issue Ushijima has with Tendou being a vampire, is that Tendou doesn’t do what a vampire should do. In other words, Tendou is terrible at getting his fill. More often than not, Tendou waits until he physically cannot deal with the pain of thirst anymore before he replenishes. Meaning he’s practically starving himself.
Tendou explains drinking blood “feels wrong,” Even if it’s from a legal donor or an animal. Ushijima always reassures him it doesn’t make him a monster. But he knew Tendou never believed him.
Tonight was no different.
Tendou had been fidgeting for the last 20 minutes. Bitting his nails, running a hand through his hair, rubbing the back of his neck. Ushijima hated seeing his boyfriend so restless.
“Satori.”
“Hmm?”
“Have you eaten recently?”
“Huh? Oh, uh, yeah a couple days ago.”
“How many days ago?”
“Um…”
Ushijima didn’t need anymore explanation, “Satori, you need to eat.”
“I’ll be fine! I promise! One more day isn’t going to kill me.”
“Can vampires die of starvation?”
Tendou looked taken aback by the question. “I mean… no, we can’t… it just gets harder to control our humanity.”
“I see,” a pause, “would you like some of mine?”
Tendou looked at him like he had just signed a deal with satan. “No, absolutely not, we talked about this.”
“I’m offering it freely.”
“And I’m saying no! Toshi, just because you have a vampire for a boyfriend, dosen’t mean you get to be my personal blood bank!”
“I’ve never offered until now.”
“I still stand by my point!”
“The point is useless if it regards your health and well being.”
“Why are you so damn stubborn!?”
“…I don’t know.”
Tendou slapped a hand over his face with a sigh, “what am I going to do with you.”
“So you’ll drink my blood?”
“That’s wasn’t a yes!”
“It’s sounded like you were giving up.”
“I’m going to strangle you.”
“No.”
“No?”
“No.”
Tendou flopped back onto his bed with a grumble of frustration, then immediately curled into his side. He had a tendency to do that when he was hungry.
Ushijima stood up from his own bed and walked over to sit on Tendou’s bed. “Satori.”
“Hmph.”
“Satori.”
Tendou finally looked at him.
“Please… let me help you.”
Tendou looked like he wanted to argue more, but Ushijima could see the exhaustion plus thirst that won over.
“Fine,” he spat.
Ushijima pulled down the collar of hit shirt.
“NO—“ Tendou shot up from bed and pulled Ushijima’s hand away, “Wrist, we’re doing the wrist, less risk of injury or me fucking up, okay?”
Ushijima blinked, then nodded, moving to pull up his sleeve instead. He didn’t miss the way Tendou’s eyes locked onto his forearm, the subtle shift in his eye color. Ushijima held out his wrist, and Tendou took it in his hands gingerly.
“This is wrong on so many levels.” Tendou mumbled.
Ushijima said nothing, thinking it would just aggravate Tendou more.
Tendou brought his wrist up to his mouth, breath ghosting the skin. Ushijima tried to relax as much as he could, not wanting to give away the subtle fear of it hurting. But he would endure it if it meant keeping Tendou healthy.
The redhead kissed his wrist once, twice, then sunk his fangs in with quick efficiency.
Ushijima tensed at the initial sting. It felt like a bunch of needles poking into his skin all at once. He clenched his jaw, not wanting to make a sound of discomfort that would pull Tendou away.
But suddenly that discomfort was replaced with something… grounding. Suddenly Ushijima’s heart rate slowed, His breath evened out. Any tension he held in his body was gone in an instant. It was almost like the bite was meant to be sedative. That was something Ushijima didn’t know about vampires.
Then he looked up through half lidded eyes… had Tendou always looked so ethereal? Ushijima always thought Tendou was beautiful in his chaotic way. But this? This was different. Tendou had this… elegant poise that you would expect from royalty. Almost like he wasn’t trying to look ravenous or monstrous.
The hold on his wrist was gentle. The pace in which he drank was slow and steady. The sliver glint from the moon made him glow in a way Ushijima never thought possible.
When Tendou finally pulled back, his lips were coated with blood. He leaned back in only to lick away any access and sooth the bite. The action spread a warmth through Ushijima’s chest.
Tendou licked away some of the blood on his lips, and Ushijima felt the sudden urge to just kiss him senseless. He must’ve been making some move because Tendou shook his head and began to push him back on the bed.
“Okay, big guy, sit back and relax, the venom will wear off shortly.”
Ahh, it was venom, makes sense… and yet, Ushijima believed this had nothing to do with the venom. He reached up to wipe some blood from his boyfriend’s lips. He smiled.
“Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?”
Tendou’s cheeks dusted pink instantly, “wha—where is this coming from—?”
“I don’t think I’ve been telling you enough… Satori, you’re so beautiful.”
“Okay, okay, flattered babe, but the venom—“
“I would let you drink from me everyday if it meant seeing you like this.”
That was the breaking point because Ushijima found himself being buried with a pillow.
“SHUT UP! Oh my god, shut up! I can’t with this version of you!”
Ushijima just chuckled, slowly pushing the pillow off his face, “I’m only speaking the truth.”
“Yeah, because apparently vampires can make even the most stoic creatures babble nonsense.”
“It’s not nonsense if it’s true.”
Tendou smiled despite himself, “okay, I can maybe get used to this version of you.”
Ushijima’s smile widened a bit, “may I kiss you?”
“Wakatoshi, I just drank your blood, it’s gonna taste—“
Ushijima just pulled him down for a kiss anyway, hands moving to the boys hips to pull him closer. Tendou let him, he had a hard time resisting Ushijima as it is.
Each kiss grew a bit more bolder, hands became exploratory. Every soft sound from Tendou just drove the ace on. Ushijima pushed himself up so Tendou could straddle his lap easier, allowing their hips to align just right. Tendou tilted his head for a deeper kiss, Ushijima’s hand ran through Tendou’s hair, the other one slipping lower to—
“Toshi—pause.”
Ushijima did indeed pause, mind still a bit foggy from the venom.
“We’re in the dorms, babe, we have a rule.”
Ushijima pouted, “The rule’s dumb.”
Tendou giggled, “you can wait until we go home for the weekend.”
Ushijima made a grumble of protest, letting his head fall into Tendou’s shoulder. “I don’t wanna wait.”
Tendou ran a hand through Ushijima’s hair, “okay, you sir, are clearly a lightweight. I think it’s time for you to sleep.”
“Hmm…”
Ushijima felt himself being pushed down onto the bed again, but this time with his boyfriend curled next to him.
“Let’s wait until your head fully clears, yeah?”
Ushijima mumbled a ‘fine’, too tired from the venom to argue…
Tendou just smiled… he would definitely take Ushijima’s offer more often in the future.
