Chapter Text
I’m late, I’m late! Izuku rushed through the hallways. He’d fully slept through his alarm, now leaving him running to class way too close to the bell. He was so distracted by his thoughts that he didn’t notice the pink-haired general studies student until it was too late, and he’d already run into her.
“Eep!” The girl let out a small squeak, her hands slightly glowing. After a moment, she shook herself off, and her eyes widened as she looked over to who she’d bumped into.
Not good.
“Oh crap, I did it again,” She muttered under her breath.
The green-haired boy looked around the halls, brow furrowing in confusion. His UA uniform was now way too big on his small body, and all scars had disappeared. His hair stayed very much the same, as did his eyes. He was just… smaller than before.
“Where am I?” The kid asked.
“You’re in UA,” the girl answered, trying very not to freak out.
“Wow, really? How’d I get here?” The boy’s eyes lit up with excitement. “And… why am I wearing this? It don’t fit.”
“It did about a minute ago…”
The boy slightly tilted his head, looking even more confused. “I don’t understand.”
“Here, how about I help you find an adult? They’d be much better at handling this.” She picked up the guy’s stuff, knowing that skinny child body wouldn’t be able to carry it.
“Okay!” He happily followed her through the halls until he tripped and hit his knee. Now he looked about ready to cry.
“Oh, dear- Um… It’s okay,” She tried. “How about I just carry you the rest of the way?”
The boy nodded, allowing himself to be picked up. He was surprisingly light compared to most five-year-olds she had interacted with before.
“Hey, Recovery Girl?” She peeked into the room nervously.
“Morning, Yukiko. Did you injure yourself, or did you do it again?” RG greeted.
“I, um, did it again…” Yukiko admitted with shame. She stepped farther into the room, revealing the boy in her arms.
RG sighed. “Alright, set him on a bed. I can’t undo the effects, as you well know, but maybe I can explain it to him.”
Yukiko carefully set the boy on the bed, him being a lot happier now. His knee must have stopped hurting.
RG calmly pulled out some clothes that would better fit the boy. She’d started keeping some around after the second time Yukiko’s quirk had a mind of its own.
“I’m so sorry!” Yukiko eventually broke. “I really didn’t mean to! We just ran into each other in the hallway, and I was startled!”
“I don’t blame you, child. Some quirks are a lot harder to control than others. And he’ll be back to normal in a week anyway,” RG comforted her as the boy changed in the bathroom. “I’m not going to be mad about that. I’m very used to your quirk accidents. I’m also used to this particular boy being brought in here. He tends to injure himself. Honestly, I thought if you were going to hit any Class 1A student, it’d be this one.”
“I hit a hero course student?!” That was a first. Usually she just hit other general studies students, or the one time she hit a support course girl.
“Yeah. The kid you brought is Izuku Midoriya. If you remember, this is the kid who broke all his fingers during the Sports Festival,” RG explained, just as the kid was emerging from changing.
“Who broke all their fingers?” Midoriya questioned, now in clothes that weren’t a tripping hazard. “Are they okay?”
“He’s fine. Now, we should probably explain the situation here.” RG helped him back onto the bed. “You’re probably confused about how you got here, huh?”
“Uh-huh,” Midoriya nodded.
“Well, to put it simply, you were hit by this young lady’s quirk,” RG began.
“What is your quirk?” The boy suddenly turned to Yukiko, his eyes alight with excitement.
“It’s called ‘Child’. Basically, I can revert someone to a past age of theirs for a week. I can control the age, but sometimes… my quirk has a mind of its own. It often activates when I get startled. The default for when it goes out of control seems to be age 5,” Yukiko explained.
“Whoa, that’s so cool!” Izuku complimented. “So… I’m not supposed to be five?”
“You’re supposed to be 16,” RG confirmed. “You’re a student in the hero course, class 1A.”
“I’m a hero student?! How’d I get in? The doctor said I’m not going to have a quirk. I have an extra toe joint,” Midoriya questioned, matter-of-factly.
Yukiko was quite surprised to hear that. This guy definitely had a quirk at the Sports Festival. Sure, it broke all his fingers… Oh, was that why he broke his bones?
“Well, by some miracle, you ended up developing one. Unfortunately, your body isn’t built for the amount of power in your quirk, which causes you to break your bones on many occasions,” RG explained to the boy.
“So I’m the one who broke their fingers?”
“Yes. Don’t worry, I was able to heal you.”
“How? Do you have a healing quirk? What is your quirk?”
RG sighed. “I’ll explain in a minute.” She turned to the general studies girl still hovering. “Yukiko, you should head to class. I’ll take care of Midoriya and inform his teacher.”
Yukiko nodded, rushing out of the room.
“Now, I guess I’m going to be answering a lot of questions from you.”
