2018 Draft Prospect Profiles: Luca Haas
Luca Haas has quickly climbed in our rankings this year due to his stellar performances both for his native country, Switzerland, in international tournaments and in the SHL, Sweden’s biggest professional hockey league.
He wasn't on our radar until this year, when we watched him develop throughout his time in the SHL. He amassed 27 points across 48 SHL games, pretty good stats for someone of his age. He has also continued to dominate in international tournaments, such as the International Prospect Cup last December. He managed to help take Switzerland, a country that has only ever placed one other time throughout IPC’s history, to third place. Haas was also able to land himself amongst the top scorers across the entire tournament

What went wrong in Boston?
Raiders fans are still reeling after Ilya Rozanov left the Boston Raiders as an unrestricted free agent at the July 1st deadline, signing an 8-year $92 million contract with the Ottawa Centaurs. Sources in Boston’s front office claim that they offered Rozanov a 7-year contract for $88 million, but he seemed to be set on Ottawa.
Rozanov himself states that although he loves Boston and would greatly miss playing for them, Ottawa is the next step in his career. Boston selected the 27-year-old centre with the No. 1 pick in the 2009 NHL Draft, and has captained the team since the 2013-14 season.
Although Boston was initially secure in the fact that their captain would resign with them, they seemed to grow more and more anxious as the deadline for Rozanov to become a free agent grew near.
