Kate November 1st
Well, that’s it, I’m a married woman now. I finally got what I wanted when I started this blog, but not at all in the manner I expected, and I couldn’t be happier. Kate Caulfield certainly has a lovely ring to it.
Looking back over this blog, it’s crazy to see how far I’ve come, and how long it took for me to realize that the love of my life had been under my nose for years. I can only imagine the look of shock the me who started this blog would have on her face if I showed her the marriage license. Part of me wishes I had realized it sooner, but I wasn’t ready to accept my feelings yet. I’d built so many walls around me that needed to come down first, and Max deserves a me who is ready to love her without reservation, not one trying to push through the pain to do it.
But enough of that, I’m sure you’re all here for details about the wedding!
Obviously we got married on Halloween, how could we not? And the whole thing went off without a hitch, thank God. At first we were really nervous about going for an Addams family theme, it’s not exactly typical, but we’re not exactly your typical couple either, and it’s special to us. Thankfully we have the best friends in the world, because they absolutely threw themselves into the planning and went the extra mile when it came to costuming. Femmes With Benefits even took the step of theming their instruments to match!
My dad and sisters played along too, which meant the world to me. Speaking of, my parents have separated and it’s like my father is a new man, he’s got a spring in his step and a twinkle in his eye that I haven’t seen since I was very young. He was practically overflowing with joy as he got ready to walk me down the aisle, and I was right there with him.
Would you believe that I didn’t even make it halfway to the altar before I started crying? Just seeing Max there, in her smart suit and with her hair slicked back, looking every bit the Gomez to my Morticia. I think it finally started to sink in. I’m going to be spending my entire life with this woman, and I can’t imagine wanting anything else. Right now we’re sitting in an airport waiting for our connecting flight to Dublin for our honeymoon (courtesy of Victoria as an extremely generous wedding gift) and some part of me honestly still can’t believe it. I’ve reread this post about a dozen times now trying to absorb it. It’s been four years since I started this blog because I felt so hopeless, and now my search is finally at an end, as is this blog. Our life together is just getting started, and there are many joys yet to come for us like adopting children and moving into a more permanent home, but this is the end of what I’ll be posting here. It’s been wonderful sharing the ups and downs of my life with all of you, but I think I’m going to be keeping my married life a lot more private. Thank you to all of you who have stuck with me, it’s been a joy!

Victoria here, kinda hard not to know when your girlfriends won’t shut up about it. We never told Max though, don’t worry. She asked about it when Susan tried to burn you, but we talked her out of believing her.-

I honestly don’t know how to say this. I’ve been avoiding commenting for so long because I’ve been really struggling with my own identity and feelings in the wake of your revelations. It’s been so hard because your thoughts mirror my own. It’s taken me a long time to accept it, but I finally have: I’m gay. I’m in the process of divorcing my good for nothing husband and then moving far, far away from him and the nest of vipers he calls a family to start living my life as me, and it’s all thanks to you, so thank you! I hope you and your Max have a long and wonderful life together, you deserve it.-
