Chapter Text
"Kais behind you!"
"Watch out!"
"Medic! I need a medic!"
"Jet is down!"
"Xat too!"
"General, there are too many!"
"General, orders?!"
"Rex, get everyone the hell out of here, I'll take care of it!"
"Commander Tano is in the front"
"We have to get out of here! Now!"
"The Commander fell!"
"What?!"
"Osik"
"Where the hell are the reinforcements?!"
---
"General!... The Commander... I don't know what-"
"What the hell is going on?"
"...Ahsoka?"
---
"Kix!"
"What the hell happened?!"
"One minute she passed out and the next she was like this!"
"To the medbay, now!"
---
"Someone hold her or she'll get worse!"
"Someone call Coric and the General, we need them for this"
"We're losing her!"
"Come on Ahsoka, you have a lot of people worried out there, you have to live"
---
"When is she going to wake up?"
"Hard to say, General, I'm afraid this is beyond my experience."
"What are you talking about?"
"She has no more injuries-"
"And those scars? They weren't there before, they couldn't come out of nowhere"
"I examined her several times, General, I did all the tests that I can think about, all came negative, whatever it is, is not physical"
"Something to do with the Force then…"
"That's what I was thinking"
"Any idea what could have happened to the Commander, General?"
"I'm not sure… when you told me something was wrong with Ahsoka I felt something in the Force… Arg, I guess I'll just have to wait for her to wake up."
"General, I have to see the others patients, if you excuse me"
"Of course.... Come on Snips... You have to wake up"
'The fate of the galaxy rests in your hands now, Ahsoka Tano.'
What?
'Go, little one, we'll be with you'
What the hell happened?!
'Ahsoka'
'Daughter? What's going on!?'
'I'm afraid I can't tell you now, Ahsoka, once I can speak with you more freely I will tell you.'
'Wait!'
'Goodbye, and good luck, Ahsoka Tano'
Ahsoka Tano.
Ahsoka...
"Ahso.."
“..soka!"
"Ahsoka…!"
"Ahsoka!"
"Ah!"
She jumped up, breathing heavily and hearing multiple voices around her, what the hell just happened?
She felt dizzy, and the light was blinding her and giving her a headache. She had a hard time hearing, she winced when she heard a deep voice - a man, she believes - get the other voices out of the room.
The lights dimmed a bit, her headache slowly fading away, and she began to open her eyes, trying not to blind herself again.
"Commander?" A deep voice called out to her softly in a low voice.
She was about to answer until she replayed the words in her mind.
Commander?
She was no longer a Commander.
The last time she was a Commander was in the time of the Clone Wars and that-
That was years ago.
…
Something wasn't right.
"Ahsoka?"
Once she was sure she could keep her eyes open without blinding herself, she searched for where the voice was coming from, and let out a surprised gasp.
Nothing was right!
The face...
The armor...
The tattoo...
"...Ki..Kix?" she asks before making a grimace, shit, her throat hurt like hell.
"Wait" he went to a table next to the stretcher and gave her a glass of water and some pills "I saw you a moment ago, you were in pain, these pills will help you"
Ahsoka stared at him, how was that possible? When she found Kix it was already too late, he was at his last moments...
He... But how...?
She watched Kix die...
It wasn't possible....
A part of her was happy, Kix was there. He was alive! Her Ori'vod was there, safe and sound.
The happiness she fell left quickly making her start to feel guilty, if she had come earlier, just a few minutes maybe she could have saved him...
"Commander?" Kix asked again still in that soft tone, though he was tense now.
"I... Yes... Thank you" she said with difficulty, taking the glass and the pills.
"I would prefer that you don't speak until you drink first, or until you feel that your throat hurts less, it would not be good if you irritated it more than it already is"
"What...?" Kix sighed and looked at her, which made her shut up, before turning around and handing her a datapad.
"Write what you want to say, don't speak until your throat feels better, I being serious"
*What happened?
"I was actually hoping you could tell me" Kix sighed "this morning you were fine, and no more than 1 hour later a big explosion is heard and you're glowing and with scars -from long ago- and no injuries"
She doesn't know how to answer that, because she doesn't know what's going on either, a few minutes ago she was breaking everything within her reach after talking to the Force ghosts of Anakin and Obi-Wan and the next she's with Kix, apparently back in the Clones Wars.
"Anyway" she looked up from her when Kix spoke again "you better rest"
"But-"
"Don't talk" Kix gave her a bad look "and rests, it's not to discussion, when you wake up later you can tell me what the hell is going on, so we can see if we can get an idea"
Ahsoka nodded, she had no idea what she was going to tell him, but she felt exhausted, and the idea of resting sounded great.
So she wasted no time and went back to bed, leaving the datapad on the table next to her, closing her eyes falling completely asleep.
—
"Why didn't you call me when she woke up?"
"General, with all due respect, she needed to rest, whatever you wants to ask her, you can do it when she wakes up"
"Look, Kix-"
She began to feel someone looking at her.
"Ahsoka?"
A feeling of joy, sadness and anger invaded her, she knew that voice.
She tried to continue pretending to be asleep, squeezing her eyes shut so the tears wouldn't come out again.
She had cried enough, she had cried all of them. Why she couldn't stop crying?
Why did it hurt so much if she was supposed to be fine?
"Snips?"
She sensed Vader- Anakin, because he wasn't Vader yet. It was Anakin, her Master, who taught her much of what she knows now and who did his best to protect her.
It was Anakin, who stayed with her when she had nightmares and helped her with her homework even if he didn't understand anything.
It was Anakin, her brother, who sometimes seemed like her father, who promised her that he would never let anyone hurt her.
It was Anakin... Who fell to the dark side, and became Darth Vader.
It was Vader, who became a hunter of surviving Jedi.
It was Vader, who tried to kill her, because it was no longer Anakin, it was Vader, her Master was no longer there, her Master died when he agreed to be Palpatine's student.
It was Vader… who in the end became Anakin again thanks to his son.
It was Anakin, who died being Anakin. Who died back to the lightside and saving his son.
She repeated it several times in her mind.
He was no longer Vader.
He was no longer that Sith Lord that tried to assassinate her.
It was Anakin.
It was her brother, who at this time would do anything to protect her.
It was her Skyguy.
"Ahsoka?" Anakin asked again softly.
Ahsoka looked up, her eyes widening gently.
"Anakin?" She asked, trying not to let her voice tremble too much, although if she did she could use the excuse that her throat still hurt instead of saying that she was trying not to burst into tears.
Anakin breathed a sigh of relief before giving her a smile.
"Hey Snips"
Ahsoka gave him a small smile.
Part of her said it had to be something with the Force, she remembers the Daughter voice. She remembers hearing some voices that were familiar to her.
Somehow she was now back in the time of the Clone Wars.
But another part of her told her it was impossible, that maybe the few remaining cells of the Empire had somehow managed to capture her, she knew it was impossible, because the last thing she remembers is being in the temple on Coruscant. But still she tried to find logic in it.
Maybe they caught her somehow and were using a new torture method on her.
But that was impossible, the Empire didn't know much about her, she had made sure to hide her trail well for years.
She didn't know what to think anymore, she didn't want to sleep, but she still felt tired.
"Ahsoka?" Anakin's voice caught her attention, and when she looked up she was met with concerned looks from Coric, Kix, Anakin and Rex who entered at some point.
"Yes?" Her voice didn't hurt anymore, it was a relief, as tired as she was she didn't know if she could write on the datapad Kix had given her.
Anakin was going to speak but Kix interrupted him.
"How are you feeling now, Commander?" Kix asked.
"Better than before, that's for sure" she said as she took a glass of water and a ration that Coric gave her.
She grimaced, she definitely did not miss the rations.
"And you better eat all that" Kix said seeing the face she made "thanks to the explosion and the days you were here you lost weight"
"How long have I been here?"
"Well… the mission was a week ago" Anakin said giving her a small smile.
Ahsoka opened her eyes, so she's been unconscious for a week.
"Was it very bad?" She asked "the wound, or whatever happened" she said seeing the look of confusion on his face.
"We were hoping you could tell what happened," Anakin said, "everything was fine, then your lekku started glowing, and you emitted something like… an electric shock, like that one with droid bombs? Like that, and the droids? they were destroyed, no one was injured! Only droids, and you fell unconscious and well, the rest you already know it"
Ahsoka stared at the bed sheets, not wanting to look at anyone's face. What was she supposed to say? It wasn't like she could tell them "Oh sorry! I'm a little confused because I'm from the future!"
At best, they would think she hit her head and is saying nonsense.
At worst? Anakin would tell the council while she stayed in the medbay under the supervision of Kix and Coric.
"Ahsoka?" Anakin asked again, she could feel how he was beginning to worry about her.
"I…I really don't know very well," she admitted, "all I remember is trying to get the troopers out of the zone as fast as possible and then passing out."
Well, she didn't lie, just told the truth up to a point.
"Kix?"
"I'd like to have her one more day" Kix said looking at Anakin "just to make sure she's alright"
"Of course," Anakin agreed, then looked at Ahsoka, "I have to report to the Council, but once I'm done I'll be back, okay, Snips?"
Ahsoka let out a small smile.
"Sure, Skyguy"
Anakin started to walk out of the medbay, then stopped and looked at Ahsoka again.
"Something else" Anakin said as he looked into her eyes "the scars you have are from a long time ago, but before the battle you didn't have them, any idea why they appeared?"
Ahsoka breathed, calming down, if she learned anything from her time when she was in the lower levels of Coruscant, and from being a spy for the Rebellion, it was knowing how to keep her cool, and how to lie.
"No, maybe whatever happened to me caused me to have them for a reason?" She said, hoping that he would believe it, returning Anakin's gaze.
"Yeah… yeah, maybe you're right" Anakin said "rest, Snips" he finished before going to give his report to the Council.
Ahsoka let out a groan as she leaned back, if Anakin were to tell what happened to the Council -which was most likely- she would have to think of a way to make them believe her lie. She knew how to lie, yes, but it was one thing to lie to Anakin -and as much as she loved him, it was never hard to lie to him- and another was to lie to the Council.
A part of her said she had to be careful, if she wasn't, the Council might know she was lying, and find out that she somehow went back in time.
But another part said she didn't have to be, the Council never caught on to Palpatine's lies, the damm Sith did nothing but act good and shield his mind from them.
She hated Palpatine, she really did, and as much as she hated it, she had to admit that the son of a bitch was a smart bastard, too smart. And if she wasn't careful, he would find out. Either by force, or because Anakin told him.
She let out a sigh, she would have to be careful, Palpatine was someone dangerous, and very powerful.
But there was something that was still not clear to her. What was she doing here? Something had to happen for the Daughter to decide to send her back to the past.
Arg…. She felt exhausted, she moved a little to get comfortable and try to go back to sleep, feeling calm listening to the voices of Coric, Kix and Rex in the background.
