fleete juggles history and changing relationship dynamics to keep this realistic and complicated... You definitely get a fond sense of OT4 here. Something much stronger than any one time period or obstacle is pulling them together, and Morgana's hoping they're going to get their happy ending this time around. -- epic-recs.livejournal.com

Summary
The child emissaries usually never live past their fifth year with the wolves. The boy sitting on the tree stump can't be more than eight summers old, maybe less, and he has big, dull eyes that land on Derek first when they break the clearing. He doesn't even flinch; Derek does.

Bookmarker's Notes
There's an old world Grimm's tales tone to this, and some thoughtful, spare writing that goes along with that. Stiles is an orphan from a village with a Druid medicine woman and townspeople who're wary of wolves. The werewolves rarely take human form, and emissary children routinely die young, "quietly burned out with earth-bound magic as old as their species." ... I'm not sure of all the details of the truce between the wolves and the village, and I can't say why Stiles doesn't speak for years on end. But that's because the focus is more on the feel of this world then the facts of it. There's tradition and inevitability, and of course Stiles manages to be the exception to everyone's expectations (probably even his own). This is told from Derek's point of view, so we know more about how Derek feels and how the years bring him to the point of loving Stiles.

In an AU to Changes, Harry sold himself to John Marcone instead of Mab. They both take a while to adjust to this. Written for the Kinkmeme, for a prompt requesting both serious treatment of the issues and smut. Contains non-explicit reference to past child abuse and rape.

Summary
AU from 1x04, "Magic Bullet."
"Why the hell did you do that?" Derek demanded. "Why would you bond with me? You were going to leave me for dead, you didn't want anything to do with helping me."
"Okay, first of all, that was like two hours ago and I've grown a lot as a person since then," Stiles said.

In this universe, soul bonds are a well-known (though rare) occurrence, though werewolves are still a secret. Stiles binds himself to Derek to lend him strength during the wolfsbane-poisoning incident in "Magic Bullet." Afterwards, the two try their best not to consummate the bond, despite every instinct drawing them both towards it. There is some lovely hurt/comfort in Stiles initiating the bond to save Derek's life, and Derek fighting against something a bond that the terrified, lonely part of him desperately wants in order to keep Stiles from becoming a target of hunters. also enjoyed the discussion of the consent issues in Stiles initiating a soul bond with an unconscious Derek. There were also some nice cameos from Scott, the sheriff, and Melissa. In the end, it is a satisfying story of two strangers coming together to create something whole and good.

Summary
When Grammy needs an upgrade in care, Mike knows that the usual one-off gig as a paid submissive won't be enough. He takes a job he's been refusing for a while - a long-term, full-time contract.
He expects his client to be a sadistic asshole. He expects not to like it. He's wrong on both counts.

dodificus gives us a beautiful and clear reading. Her pacing is spot on, and she brings out the emotional content especially well. You can feel her love for the story and her good sense of the progression of the relationship. -- epic-recs.livejournal.com
