Summary
That was not the question Aulea had asked. Ardyn was beginning to get a sneaking suspicion that wasn’t the question his nibling wanted to ask, either. “The idea of equating gender and sex is both reductionist and patently absurd.”

Summary
Regis still isn't sure this is good idea — Noctis already struggles whenever he’s singled out as the prince at school, and how much more will that happen now that the King of Lucis has shown up for Kindergarten Career Day? — but Noctis had begged, and Regis had caved in before he’d really thought it through.
“My name is King Regis,” he starts, and the class obediently pipes up in unison: “Hello, King Regis!”

Summary
"You didn't call me because you were bored," his dad says then, the words quiet, and he sighs. Not one of annoyance, just... acceptance.
"No," Noct admits, and takes another bite of his muffin.
An impulsive call to his dad at three am has Regis showing up at Noct's apartment unannounced, leaving him scrambling to play host while struggling to hide the troubles bouncing about in his mind. But after an awkward night of muffins, snow-watching, and hot cocoa, Noct decides that maybe he's ready to talk after all.

Summary
"Very well," he says, unable to keep the resigned tone from his voice. "I'll stay."
At his words, Noctis stops his screaming, but breathy little sobs still escape him as tears trail down his face. "You're gonna stay?" he asks, swiping an arm across his snot-soaked nose.
Both the action and the hopeful note in his voice make Regis wince. He nods anyway. "Yes," he says, ruthlessly smothering the guilt that flares up. He'll stay, but only until Noctis inevitably falls asleep from exhaustion, and then he'll sneak away like the coward he is.
The aftermath of the daemon attack and the invasion of Tenebrae have taken a toll on eight year old Noctis, leaving him with separation anxiety and Regis at his wit's end. Desperate to ease Noct's fears, he turns to Ignis for answers, who gives him a solution: a stuffed animal to remind him of his dad and help him feel protected.
