In which each yaksha falls in a different way, and for Xiao, there was no other way than to be held down by his karmic debt, winds extinguished by eons of godly wrath and hatred. However, as he sinks down into oblivion, there laid a monster far worse than the corruption eroding away at him.
Far worse, and yet, the only one with an offer to salvation that cost nothing he was not willing to sacrifice—and he wasn’t willing to sacrifice much, so it stands to say the salvation comes almost at no cost at all, except…
“Succumb,” they said. “We swear to the cosmos, that your world will be safe from us. We will even protect it in your stead. Succumb to us, pretty yaksha, and we will take care of you as well.”

Can you imagine the Doctor stumbling upon the Hive Queen though? He too is mourning a whole species. He is their son and he is their killer. The book would tremble in his hands.Can you imagine him stumbling upon the Hegemon and seeing himself in Peter?
He would shake for days— Peter’s arrogance, his As God Am I righteousness, the benevolent dictator who saved the world, who erased Donna’s mind to save her life, who makes decisions for other people, who wins.
But the Speaker who wrote Peter Wiggin’s life story loved him. The author was honest, evenhanded, condemning as well as kind— but he loved Peter, this bully and this savior of Man. It is written into every line of the Hegemon, and for all it shakes the Doctor to see his selfsame rightoeus arrogances written out on the page, he puts down the book and he feels seen.

This time, however, the poem was accompanied by a neat note stamped with the Millelith symbol. Please do not write love letters on the Feiyun Slope Bulletin Board.
Beneath it was a smaller scrap of paper that read, This isn’t a love letter!, complete with a round smiley face.
Hu Tao writes poems and posts them to the bulletin board. Yanfei falls in love.

There is something about Kamisato Ayaka that is frozen. It is not her demeanour, for that is a lovely one indeed, nor is it her manners, for they are excellent. There’s just something slightly cold about the way her blue hair shines in the morning sun, like light refracting off ice. It awes people but also tells them: stay away, danger is near.
Yoimiya has never been very good at listening to those instincts. She grew up around fireworks, explosions of great magnitude called beautiful, and that fire, that liveliness, has seeped into her bones. This is just who she is now, a person made out of fleeting desires and everlasting memories, as bright and in-the-moment as beautiful fireworks herself.
So when she sees the Shirasagi Himegimi politely waiting for her in front of the shop as she comes in, she can’t help but smile. "Come in, come in! I’ll just help the kids get their fireworks, and I’ll be right with you. I owe them some sparklers as it happens to be!"
