Summary
Alexandra Jade Harper has returned to New York City for her senior year of college as a Biochemistry major at NYU. After a summer away from the city, she is ready to put the events of last fall behind her, steer clear of super-soldiers, actually anything with the word super in front of its title, and out of back alleys. That lasts about three days. Soon Alex is pulled back into the world of superheroes, and this time the stakes are a lot higher than her own life. Alex has to balance school, an internship, and an extra credit assignment for an exacting professor. Oh, and maybe save New York City from being an evil scientist’s experiment if she has time. All this while she receives phone calls from a man she just can’t forget.

Few knew her as Nadya Ivanovna Rykova, the lost recruit of the Red Room, never spoken of after her disappearance. But she got along just fine, hiding away with her secret life, re-emerging only to take contracts that few others are willing to take.
To hunt other Assassins.
But when she's contracted to take out Black Widow? Her long ago 'little sister'?
Her life and her secrets all begin to unravel.

This story is effectively split into two parts, with Part I focusing on themes of the price of secrets, family, self-acceptance and finding somewhere to belong, with the Steve/OC romantic sub-plot beginning in earnest in Part II.
Part I starts just before Avengers: Age of Ultron and Part II starts shortly after AoU ends and goes through to just beyond Captain America: Civil War.
Warning!! It is a *VERY SLOW BURN*
Companion Story to "Haven" (formerly called 'Please Stay') and, though highly recommended, it's not necessary to have read it to enjoy this one!

S.H.I.E.L.D. has fallen, and in order to rebuild, they need to look outside. Alexa Shaeffer pops up on their radar as a possible candidate for the position of Head of Physical Therapy at the new Avengers HQ. Learning from the mistakes of the past, Fury and Hill have done a very thorough background check; what they find, however, doesn’t seem possible, and brings up more questions than answers.
Alexa Lynn “Lexi” Shaeffer has lots of secrets. Luckily, she’s been very good at keeping them. She should be—she’s been keeping them since she was a little girl. She has elevated keeping a low profile to an art form, not allowing anyone to get close enough to learn the truth. Until one day, that is, when she’s approached about a very unique job opportunity.
Finally able to use the knowledge that she’s accumulated, Lexi starts a new life with people that she can trust not to expose her secrets. Everything begins to settle down into a nice routine—until one day, when James Buchanan Barnes is brought in from the cold.

The Avengers sitcom we all secretly want. Well, maybe the Avengers hour-long action dramadey we all secretly want.Multi story, multi couple series. Series order is suggested reading order (not necessarily chronological order). You'd don’t have to read them all to read one, but they do compliment (and spoil) each other. Heavy Boots of Lead contains a series summary at the beginning if you want to skip to.
Started after Winter Soldier, generally AU, but we have adapted and reimagined Ultron and Civil War for this universe.
