Summary
For the years following The Hour of Joy, Catnap served his savior with the upmost loyalty. Those who were deemed vile heretics he would cull, even if they were people he cherished and loved. He did so because The Prototype had promised him rebirth for him and all of his friends. Their deaths would be only temporary, and they would all eventually be reunited. Using this lie, The Prototype would ensure both Catnap's obedience and the end of The Smiling Critters.
One critter, however, Catnap could not kill. Dogday was his best friend, and even if they would eventually be reborn, Catnap could not bear to kill him. Relenting, The Prototype had allowed Catnap to keep Dogday alive under the condition that he be imprisoned. Locked away until he had reformed and was willing to serve the wicked god's whims.
Despite Catnap's best efforts, though, Dogday refused to join them. When his resolve lasted for weeks, Catnap did not worry. When it lasted for months, he just told himself it would be fine.
When it lasted years, The Prototype finally broke its promise. Catnap's faith was finally tested, and he would show little mercy.

The van ride to their destination was silent. Everyone was entering their pregame trance, Hoppy had the radio on low. This was their biggest heist to date, if this paid out what they expect they may be able to upscale to the next level. Dogday, filled with excitement, felt his tail wag by the prospect. Hoppy called back from the driver's seat that they'd be arriving in five minutes, the radio turned off completely and they were left in silence. He felt the pull of Bubba's mind as he was dragged into the psychic link with the whole crew. He masked up, pulling a basic balaclava over his head before the vehicle stopped. It was time.
Heists is a fantasy AU which takes our favorite characters from Poppy Playtime, and puts them in a world with magic and modern technology mixed together.

And the best (worst) part? It all hinges on Sun Wukong also being emotionally vulnerable.

Liu'er Mihou could never hate Wukong. Despite everything the golden monkey has pulled, his heart would always long for him. So when the Lady Bone Demon offered a way out of the diyu, but in return for his loyalty in taking down the Monkey King, and creating her perfect world. He refused.
After all, he couldn't help it. The heart wants what it wants.
MK always felt there was an air of sadness surrounding his mentor. And after everything happened with the scroll of memories, the Monkey King seemed to be lonelier than ever.
Wait, how did this scroll get in his room?
(Or, Macaque never gets revived by LBD. And MK finds a mystery scroll with a ritual on it in his room, which just so happens to be a revival spell. This is meant to be a short story, just something fun. No major villains or plot twists.)

Bubba ends up doing an experiment on DogDay and CatNap. At first nothing seems to happen. Until the next day DogDay and CatNap woke up and they seemed to have swapped roles.
The strange thing is that CatNap and DogDay don't seem to notice, while the other critters have.
Can Bubba fix this?
