She startles awake to the sound of Hooty yelling, abruptly sucking her out of the half-asleep state she had been in. She grabs her glyphs on instinct, one of the stacks of paper she leaves around her room for easy access.
When she finds Hooty, he has the door wide open and the body of a teenage boy slumped against the doorframe. A boy who is swathed in red from blood and grasping onto his staff like it’s the only thing keeping him from face planting.
And as Luz walks closer, the light of the moon catches on platinum blonde hair and she suddenly realizes that it’s The Golden Guard in the doorway.

Summary
“I think I dropped my scroll on the field!” Skara sets her bag down on the bench, anxiety and defeat weighing on her shoulders. “My dad just bought that for me and now it’s gonna be fried in the rain. He’s gonna ki-” She pauses, glances quickly at Hunter with an apologetic grimace. “He’s gonna be so upset with me.” She amends.
“Oh, that’s fine. I’ll go get it for you.” Hunter scowls at his scroll. Really, these typos are starting to get on his nerves. He’ll demand another typing lesson when he gets back to the house.
He jabs at the power button—the only button he can really trust the consistency of—and marches toward the door.
“Wait, Hunter, what-?”
And he walks right out into the boiling rain.

While out late one night, Darius ends up saving some drunken kid from being taken advantage of. Unfortunately, he also ends up having to let him stay at his apartment for the night.
Hunter never expected to wake up to someone cooking breakfast and worrying about him.

Summary
She doesn’t want to leave him or Luz alone for a minute. The blank, haunted expressions they wear makes her want to wrap them up, tightly, in a blanket and make them both some hot cocoa. (And she’d make some for King, obviously, so he wouldn’t feel left out or jealous.)
If Hunter didn’t look like he was ready to climb out a window, she’d probably do just that.
Hunter runs off. Hunter is followed. Hunter is promptly adopted.

QUICK NOTE: This fic is technically unfinished and I'm not sure if I'll ever come back to it, so understandable if that's a no for you. However, it ends on a relatively conclusive note, or at least is not like a crazy cliffhanger.
In the Owl House, Luz winds up on the boiling isles to find Eda and King living together, alone.
But what if that wasn't the case?Six years before the events of the show, Belos' new upcoming Golden Guard discovers his secrets all too soon. But unlike the others, he makes it out alive. Eda Clawthorne, the Boiling Isles' most notorious criminal, isn't sure what to do when she finds a terrified blond kid in the woods with no parental figure in sight. Naturally, she takes him home.

Eda brings home a child soldier. Chaos ensues. -

Summary
Hunter finds himself in the impossible situation of waking up in the past, and being himself, unhesitatingly throws himself under the bus in order to help the people who, in his mind, he owes so much more than just his life to.
All Luz sees is a desperate, hurt child soldier who was ready and willing to throw himself into the boiling sea if she so much as hints that it would make her, King, or Eda happy. This sufficiently worries her.
Eda just desperately wants to know who this kid who showed up out of nowhere and cursed himself for her is. Lilith's kid? Belos'? Raine's? Who the heck would have a kid who latches onto the Owl Lady!?
Everyone else is wondering just what the heck Eda did to inspire such vicious loyalty from the former Golden Guard who, at this point, they're almost certain is her son. Lilith most especially.
