Summary
Lan Xichen turns at the rare endearment, and his eyes soften. He covers the pot with a lid to let the sauce simmer. ”In its all-consuming nature, is love still not kindness above all?”
“Some kindness often lives in love. Some others are often mistaken for it,” he breathes.
“Mistaken how?” Xichen brows furrow, looking at Jiang Cheng with a desperation to understand his thoughts. Hoping that, in turn, he can make the other understand his own.

Unfortunately, the whole process seemed designed to set off Jiang Cheng’s insecurities. And it wasn’t really what Wei Wuxian wanted, either. His mates were perfect. He didn’t picture a faceless omega in his daydreams; he pictured Jiang Cheng, only slightly changed.
Would it be possible to tweak the process and change only a few aspects of anatomy? Shorten the period of transformation?

This causes Jiāng Chéng to see Lán Wàngjī in a new light and makes Wèi Wúxiàn realize that Jiāng Chéng and the Yúnmèng Jiāng are vital parts of himself. Meanwhile, Jīn Zixuān and Qín Sù mitigate a political crisis caused by "Mò Xuányǔ."
