Summary
“She is an exceptional warrior. She's fine,” the child said. Who knows how much he really believed it or how much it was a lie so as not to think the worst.
So. Small child injured and alone in Gotham, with no one to rely on except Tim himself, and a mother who was missing and probably dead.
Now, a person with common sense would call the police. They weren't great, but at least Commissioner Gordon was good – not to mention he was Batgirl's father! – and he would definitely protect the child from evil ninjas.
However, Tim didn't have any common sense.

Summary
When Tim first listed Bruce Wayne as his emergency contact for school, he didn't give it too much thought. It seemed only logical to put down his neighbor, in case his parents didn't pick up, right?
Then again, it wasn't like they were going to call Bruce. That stuff only happened in movies. The chances of Tim getting hurt were as low as Robin becoming the next anti-hero.
And then he gets into an accident.

Summary
“He broke my camera!” Tim wails, incensed. “Not a crack, not a dent; it’s nothing but a pile of glass because he broke it!”
“And his ankle,” Robin adds.
“And my ankle!”
“...I accidentally hit him with my car,” Batman reluctantly offers when Dr. Thompkins raises her eyebrow at him, causing her to choke on her next breath.
(Or: One evening while birdwatching, a ten year old Tim Drake gets run over by the Batmobile.)

Tim is prepared to take the steps necessary to ensure that Bruce will not feel obligated to adopt Tim when a comatose Jack Drake inevitably dies. But what could be better than preventing Bruce from ending up with a son he doesn't want? Bringing back the one he does.
Jason agrees to the Replacement's stupid, stupid plan to invite some strange adult man he's never met to come live with him, if only to keep the idiot alive long enough for him to serve his purpose in the Great Red Hood Revenge Scheme.
Might this new roommate situation have an impact on either of their worldviews? Surely not...

Summary
When Tim first proposes his plan, Jason calls him batshit insane.
"Why?" Tim asks stubbornly. “It’ll be a win-win situation – I get a new life without some guardian tying me down, and you get a new life where you can eat food every day and live in a big house. You’ll probably have to go to school, but that’s the only downside I can think of. That, and pretending to be me, of course."

In the wake of Jack and Janet Drake's untimely death, Bruce sets out to search for their missing son, determined to adopt him. After a long, arduous search, he finally brings home a new addition to his family.
He fails to realise that the new kid living in Wayne Manor is not Tim Drake.
