      “Yah! What are you saying in front of everyone, you bastard!”

      …Are we sure they’re really not married yet? Soso thinks blankly to herself, watching the two elders interact. The conversation had been so bizarre that she stopped her farewells with Yoo Iseol.

      Sadly, they really aren’t, which was crazy. Everything he listed down sounded like something married couples do. Tang Gunak was truly getting second-hand embarrassment from this blatant clinging. Tang Bo, you’re an elder and the renowned Dark Saint! Have some dignity, please!

      “Anyway, let go of me!”

      “But Dosa Hyung-nim!!!”

      He…he really doesn’t care about his dignity, does he? But no one can blame him. After all, he was someone who hasn’t left the Sword Saint’s side since he woke up. Suddenly being forced to stay in this place again is almost like a cruel punishment for something he wasn’t even aware that he did.

      Chung Myung turned to Tang Gunak. “If this brat starts making a mess of things, just tell me.”

      “...I will keep that in mind.”

      However, you shouldn’t say those kinds of things out loud. It was more likely that Tang Bo would voluntarily cause a mess if it meant that Chung Myung would come here to pick him up or hit him on the head. Sometimes, his behavior is really…astounding.

      “Hyung-nim! Don’t ignore me!”

      “Why are you complaining so much, ah?! Didn’t you ask for this?”

      “Yes, but just wait for me!”

      The only reason he was about to be left behind was because he still had some things to do, but the disciples have been away from the sect for longer than what was expected. Chung Myung already sent a letter to the sect leader, but it was about time they came back. As for Tang Bo, he would need more time tying up the loose ends and fixing some things going on within his family. He’s avoided doing so for long enough.

      He was about to turn around and leave with the kids, but paused at the last moment. Tang Bo was still grumbling unhappily to himself, a gloomy aura slowly starting to form over his head.

      Even if him being gloomy suits his ‘Dark Saint’ title more, it was a bit unsettling for him.

      “Tang Bo-ya.”

      “What is it, Hyung-nim?” he asked in a depressed tone.

      He was, however, taken by surprise when his wrist was forcibly grabbed without warning. It was raised up just next to the swordsman's ear, a little over his head. His sleeve naturally fell down to hide what was happening from one side.

      Someone, suspiciously sounding like Tang Soso, squeaked out loud.

      But Tang Bo cannot focus on anything else except— 

      Except for the surprisingly close face of his Hyung-nim next to his, looking at him with a strange expression.

      Before he could fully process what was happening, he felt something soft and chaste press against the left corner of his lip. It happened so briefly that it almost felt like a lie.

      Chung Myung let his arm fall down. Then, ears burning a vivid shade of red, he hurriedly turned away and left as fast as he could.

      “...”

      Wh….what just happened?

      Those who had been standing at the side where they could properly see everything were staring with wide eyes, hand over their mouth. No, even those who hadn’t seen what happened had let out loud gasps.

      As for the disciples, they were looking with their jaws on the ground at Tang Bo.

      …Wait, their sabom is leaving so fast! Huh? Wait wait wait, he didn’t even say goodbye to everyone else–?!

      Baek Cheon was the first to turn around, his own cheeks red from embarrassment of what he just witnessed. The others followed him, still bewildered about what just happened. They hurriedly began running to catch up to the Great Elder.

      …Tang Bo.

      As for Tang Bo, he seemed to have ceased functioning. He was neither sulking nor complaining. Instead, he stood frozen in the same spot, eyes wider and more dilated than anyone else in that place. He can’t even process what was going on around him, eyes firmly locked on the vanishing figure of the Sword Saint.

      “...That—”

      A hand slowly reached up to touch the corner of his lip, where he was sure…

      He had been so sure…..

      That….that….. 

      He slowly turned his head to stare blankly at Tang Gunak and his daughter.

      “....Tell me I’m not dreaming.”

      The two enthusiastically talked about forest animals. Cheong Myeong casually said, "I once saw a rabbit in the forest and begged Sahyung to keep it. He didn't agree. He did make me a rabbit-shaped dumpling though."

      Dang Bo started crying.

      "I used to have a rabbit once. For 6 hours. Actually it was a hare, but still."

      "Really?"

      "Yeah. White fur. Very cute. Caught it while hunting and brought it home."

      "It died?"

      "Yeah."

      "Sick?"

      "My brother skewered and roasted it over fire for new year celebration dinner."

      "???"

      "I ate it." Dang Bo sobbed. "It was fucking tasty. Had a nice char. I went back for seconds."

      Cheong Myeong started sobbing too, looking like a pure taoist who couldn't bear to harm a fly. He banged his fist on Dang Bo's head.

      "You're fucked up!"

      Dang Bo shielded his head in defense. "It broke out of the cage and got mixed up with wild hares in the kitchen, it's no one's fault!"

      "How could you not recognize it on your plate?!" Cheong Myeong wailed.

      "It's lathered in peanut sauce!" Dang Bo cried harder.

      The two drunks sobbed and hiccuped so hard in the middle of the street to the point some pedestrians almost considered calling the law enforcement.

    It had been roughly a few weeks or so since the White Star was defeated and the despair-crazed god was resealed. Cale thought he’d be done after that, and for a while, he was right, despite all the commotion about him being the ultimate hero— which was total nonsense in his opinion— but then the God of Death suddenly contacted him.

     

    You have two months or so left.

     

    He told him he was going to die.
