"Have you seen my Ma?" the small voice asked. "Her name is Ma," the boy said, clearly unaware his mother could have any other name.
He was barefoot; dressed in grey trousers several sizes too big for him, their frayed and torn bottoms trailing away behind him down the stairs. A grey shirt likewise too big, its frayed cuffs dangling past his hands and a black jacket that conversely was too small and had split all the way down the back seam, and was missing all but one of its buttons. His face was streaked with grime, the hair dull and uncombed. He was about to tell her his name when another boy, older and taller with blonde hair ran up the stairs.
"Where have you been?" he demanded.

Thought it was criminal that no one had written for it so I took matters into my own hands. Also, Fic description will be updated to be more relevant when I write future chapters.Johnny disappeared around another turn, taking out two trash cans and a mailbox as he did. He mentally apologized to Shadow for running off but kept going. There wasn't any reason for the little punk to be going after him tonight. The only thing he'd broken was the speed limit!
... until Phantom showed up yelling about "needing to talk", then there might have been a small bit of property damage. Maybe more but who was keeping track of stuff like that? He wasn't keeping score or anything. Course not.

“Hi, this is Firefighter Buckley with the 118. Isabel and Josephina got a clean bill of health, sir. You don’t have anything to worry about, I’ll be here with them if they have any questions for us,” Buck reassures, and, surprisingly, he’s met with absolute silence on the other end.
He waits a few seconds, then lowers the phone to check if the call dropped. It still says ‘Edmundo’ on the screen, and Buck catches a glance at the contact picture of said Edmundo on Isabel’s phone, and gapes for a moment. The guy’s real young, holding a newborn baby in his arms, baseball cap pulled down over most of his face but a dazzling smile, clear as day, peaks out.
“Right. Uh, thank you, Firefighter Buckley.” And wow, oh. It’s a nice voice too, velvet and rich sounding. A little gravelly, but in a very pleasant way. Buck likes it. But not in any way that means something. Objectively, it’s a nice sounding voice. Right.
