Summary
He chokes on the gas. It’s already too late, too late, the timer has clicked down to zero and he shuts his eyes in resignation and no, not this.
He coughs again. Inhales. He’s not supposed to, he knows, but he doesn’t know why.
His head hurts. His head always hurts.
Laughter, behind him.

Bookmarker's Notes
Determined to fix his relationship with his son, Eddie prepares to head to El Paso. Buck however won't let him leave without a proper goodbye. It brings an (un)surprising revelation somewhere along the i-10.
----
Having his first kiss with a man was not on Eddie's 2024 bingo card. But then again, neither was having his parents steal his son, or having to deal with the startling revelation that he was in love with his best friend (who for some reason can't stop getting hurt). If he expected a quiet time in El Paso he really should have known better. He thinks Frank would be a little proud of him though, he's never been so in touch with his feelings.
---
orA fix it, where Eddie fights to figure out who he is at his core, makes up with (and comes out to) his son and takes care of a certain firefighter who (temporarily) loses his ability to hear when a call goes wrong.

Summary
Life is hard when you’re a street kid. It’s even harder when you’re also deaf. Though, Jason guesses that he’s not technically a street kid anymore, not since he’s made that mistake of jacking some billionaire’s tires and got himself kidnapped.
The man... Bruce, doesn’t seem to want to hurt him, though. He feeds Jason and goes out of his way to communicate with him. He even offered to teach Jason sign language.
There’s a price to pay, he’s sure of it, but Bruce remains as kind and nice as always.
Maybe he really is safe?
