After finding the Horcrux, instead of dying, Reg was sent 3 years back in time to when he was 15. He has a chance of fixing things - quite possible that he duplicated Voldemort's soul by traveling back in time. He spends time with his friends Magnus Flint and Dakota Sinclair instead of Avery or Rosier. He suffers from PTSD and when confronted by his friend, he made scorching marks on the floor. He talked to Dumbledore about it but didn't want to tell him anything yet. He also bought a new wand, vine wood with a phoenix feather core which is "willing to understand".
The next day Slytherin quid ditch practice is being interrupted by Gryffindor team who were obnoxious and I silting. One player punched Regulus who realized that his anger was coming from hircrux but couldn't help himself. After talking to his friends he his the necklace in the quidditch locker instead of under the pillow. This act itself made Reg feel better.
After winning a quid ditch match Sirius went to congratulate Reg but James was being a prick to rotect Padfoot. Reg couldn't focus though because he suddenly got the scar he got in the cave, 3 years from now. Reg went to the locker room and had a panic attack.
More scars appeared on his body from the inferi. Walburgia wrote Reg a letter expecting him to come home for Christmas but Reg doesn't want to. He asked Sirius for help but they got into a huge fight: Reg said his mother abuses him too but later fled and believes Sirius hates him, while Sirius doesn't understand how they got there and Marauders say that Reg is dramatic and play it up even if he isn't lying.
During DADA class, Reg's bogart turned into Sirius locking Reg in the basement and living him there. Sirius didn't like it and insisted that Reg tricked everyone because it "couldn't be the worst fear". They had another fight but Sirius didn't listen to a word Reg said.
At Hogsmeade trip Death Eaters attacked and Regulus fought them. He saved James from Bellatrix and in exchange James gave him enchanted ring - if he ever wants to leave Grimmauld Place, Reg can use the ring to apparate to James' Manor. Reg and Magnus found a kitten who can apparate and they took her with them to Hogwarts.
