I WAITED. SO LONG. FOR THIS TO COME OUT. LITERALLY EIGHT MONTHS. I WATCHED IT GO FROM “i think i’ll hit 20k?” TO “it actually can’t be a oneshot, ao3 won’t let one chapter be that long.” (55,666 words being the exact count is SO fucking funny and perfect for this fic) AND IT WAS SO FUCKING WORTH IT DUDE I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW MUCH IT PAID OFF. There is so much cool symbolism and motifs and imagery and Charlie’s nightmares and delusions are so fucking cool AND his dissociation was very well done, reminded me a lot of myself in 2023. The end of part one fucking RUINED me so much. There are so many things that they are doing in that scene even though I know the room was almost completely silent. Not a word said and literally everything done. Ough
And then there’s the bench. I have never considered the hallway nor bench before, but I do agree that it’s there. I hope that we can spend as much time there as we want. Maybe I’ll spend my eternity there. Waiting to see if I have the same bench as someone else, if I have anyone else left to meet. A bench sounds nice.
