    And this is why you are worth your weight in gold. More people should do this! And I love "live reactions" so much; it's the best when someone is so enthusiastic about your fic they give you a running DVD commentary :D I always leave comments on fics I like because I know how much that means to the creators. It's also a chance for authors to discuss the story, which is always interesting--a lot of people forget that many writers are dying to discuss what went into the story and why they chose to do this or that. I'm always interested in hearing that sort of thing, especially with longer stories. It's so disheartening to see a great fic with thousands of hits and not a single comment, even if the author has enabled them. So I always let the author know I enjoyed their work. And conversely, I always respond to positive comments by drowning them in profuse amounts of thanks and appreciation!

      Thanks! Oh yeah I'm always super delighted when authors respond to my comments. I try to comment no matter what, but I admit getting responses (or seeing that the author frequently responds to others) kicks me even more into comment overdrive 😂. I had one author I was reading recently who was really good at being purposeful about what they wrote so I kept being like "hmm is X going to happen?" and then a bunch of chapters later it'd happen and the author was getting progressively more astonished by my ability to predict things. (I was digging through their backlog so I was also getting a sense of their writing which contributed even more to my ability to predict stuff.)
