Now, Homunculus is a manga that I always found so complete in itself that I thought it just had no room for fic. But this missing scene is something I can really see happening. The characterization rings so true, like the kiss rating or the accent slip-up for Nakoshi and that particular vulnerable bravado that Itoh has. The last part hits really hard, Nakoshi never really acknowledges his moral depravity in raping 1775 in the manga but I imagine it would be another guilt added to his subconsciousness. This has the same feeling of unsettling ambiguity as the original and I'm kinda off balance after reading it in the best way. Thanks for writing this!
I just remembered that I'd written this fic (this was a back-dated transplant post from LJ that I didn't want to see disappear, but also, I hate all my old writing...) and popped back to see whoa!! not only comments, but a very thoughtful comment!! I was not expecting anyone to notice this, I originally wrote this fic for like, the one friend I had who'd read Homunculus. So thank you!!
God, I always find myself coming back to this. This fic definitely has a very special place in my heart and I can't believe it's almost 14 years old. Found this three years ago, amidst my Homunculus obsession, and only commented a year after. It's embarrassing almost how often I've reread this particular fanfic. Whenever I remember Them (which is quite often) I feel the urge to come back to this. I see you're still somewhat active and I can only hope that means you'll get this comment about how much I love this piece of writing. Thank you, for writing it, really.
