Comment on Release Notes for Release 0.9.11

  1. Hey, so I'm running into a fairly problematic issue based on these two fixes:

Editing a recently posted work and then posting without preview would cause that work to be bumped back to the top of work lists, e.g. for a fandom tag. This has been corrected.
Creating a draft chapter on an already published work was causing that work's 'updated at' information to change, bumping it back to the top of work lists. We have fixed this error.

My fic has 230 chapters in drafts, but we've only published 114 of them. Our fic is now NOT showing up when we publish a new chapter each morning-- it's staying at the bottom of the lists.

I've noticed that changing the "published on" date bumps it higher, so--

right now the ONLY way for a fic to show up on the top of the list is to cheat the system if you're publishing chapters written in advance. That doesn't seem right.

ETA: I changed the date of an already-published chapter to today's date, and that makes the work display as having been updated today, but it is still displaying below the fic that I updated last night with a newly-written chapter. So even though I updated this fic later, even with the manual date correction it is showing up as having been updated less recently.

Ideally, stories will show up at the top of the list *based on the time when the publish button on a chapter is hit* rather than based on the "published on" date, which retains the date a chapter was originally written unless it's manually reset, since that can apparently be used improperly.

As a writer, I would like to be able to keep the record of when the chapter was originally written if at all possible. It would be great if this was a different entry from when a chapter was published. Regardless of whether that's possible, it seems like logically the best answer is that the time when a chapter is *actually* published should be uneditable by authors and reflect the pushing of the published button on the most recent *published* chapter. Is that possible?

Otherwise my story is never going to appear to have updates, and that doesn't work for somebody who is posting a daily serial, or someone who does a great deal of editing before posting their chapters.

Also, I totally don't mind being a guinea pig to help you guys get this sorted out-- It's important to me that our readers know when we've updated and when there's a new chapter, so if there's anything I can do to help test, please let me know!

    Thanks!
