Or if he was a bit bigger, he would have been patient with himself, going slow and making sure he wasn't putting too much pressure on his left side. But Janus wasn't feeling all that big right then. He just wanted to get everything over with quickly so he could lay back down. He didn't like the dark room. He didn't like the burning sensation in his back at the simple act of sitting. He wanted to go back to sleep, so the next time he woke up, it would be to Bubba bringing him a glass of juice and telling him about something silly he'd read.
So, without hesitation or further thought, Janus pushed himself up and off his bed.
And immediately, he wailed.

Roman rose with him, holding his hands out for his wobbly brother, who was always a little bit off-kilter when he was small.
