Summary
It was supposed to be so simple, so easy. It was but a recon mission, straightforward as it got. Observe, take notes, and report back.
But it wasn’t.
Because of what the reconnaissance was of.
Hope’s Peak Academy.
Where it all started, where the catalyst of the tragedy took place and went boom and to be completely frank, a place that Hinata would have been very satisfied to have never revisited but alas, here they were.
Hinata could have just said no, pawned the mission off to someone else, anyone but him, bury the skeletons that were threatening to spill out of his closet, but he bit his tongue and simply nodded, smiling stiffly when Naegi (concerned as always, and kind to a fault) asked if he was doing alright.
Because when it came down to it, Hinata couldn’t just had said no, as the guilt and shame was suffocating, and it gripped him in a vice and as such, he always wore himself dry to the bone doing missions, desperately chasing his notion of redemption, one he ironically didn’t believe existed for himself, but sought for regardless.Series
