Schlatt knew his boyfriend, okay? He knew when Wilbur was upset, when he was sad, what foods he liked and what ones he didn't. He knew his favorite color, his favorite song; knew his favorite animal and the name of his childhood best friend. He knew that something was wrong with him, too. Not that he was pretending to be happier than he was, or that he had extreme ups and downs; no it was nothing like that. There were times when his eyes were dead, when the brown looked more black, looked deadly. Schlatt knew his boyfriend was fucked up.
