On the table, canvas splashed with bright hues and intricately sculpted shapes, was a portrait of three: a mother in a soft green gown with two little children clinging to her dress, one a moss-eyed girl with dark hair and the other a lanky blonde boy with golden eyes.
What stuck out wasn’t the children barely resembling their mother, the horns adorning the two’s heads nor the way all three seemed to be snarling at something unseen. It was that the lady was far taller than normal and the boy had limbs that were a little too long, skin a little too pale, teeth a little too sharp.
Two of them had fangs.
Gods didn’t have fangs.
