On the bad days, Wylan hates himself. He would spend hours sitting on the floor, numerous open books sprawled out in front of him, trying to make sense of the print on them, trying to make sense of any word. He would feel the room closing in on him, and he would feel like he couldn’t breathe, like someone had punched him in the gut. He would hear his father’s words rattling around in his brain, ‘useless’ ‘stupid’ ‘you can’t even accomplish what a child of five can do with ease’ ‘how could anyone ever love someone like you?’. He couldn’t stop the voice speaking to him.
This was a bad day.

The walk to the Sweet Little Bakery was simple, and from the dainty shop, he could see the sign for the Faldrin Club. He could see it was also very busy there, so it took him a minute to actually get inside, but he didn’t have to go far before he spotted Jesper.
Jesper, the person he loved, the person he promised to spend his whole life with, the person what was always occupying his thoughts and lived in his brain, the person Wylan would gladly devote his life to making happy, had his arms wrapped around someone else.
