Summary
"Dustin?"
He snapped out of it, grabbed his backpack and small duffel bag and climbed out the window, not caring about the rain soaking his already damp day clothes. Now wasn't the time to think about who will see him, they have all seen each other at their worst, it was fine.
Despite having thought that, he felt a huge amount of relief when he saw that it was just Eddie in the passenger seat of Steve's BMW, looking as worried as the man himself. Eddie was also an important figure in his life, so a weight was lifted off his shoulders. He really didn’t want any of his other friends to see him like this.
Steve jumped out of the car and didn't hesitate to bring him into the warmest hug ever, one that Dustin didn't realize he desperately needed until this moment. He let himself cry again, but now he knew that everything will be fine.

Summary
“Did something happen?” He continued just as softly, looking at her with kind eyes. “You don’t have to talk about it, but it helps. I know it, you know it, Eddie knows it. Dustin is still new to this, but you are not. You know you can tell us anything, right? No matter how silly or stupid it feels?”
Max couldn’t help but throw herself at him again, a mirror of last night. This was why she liked Steve. He never pressured her to talk, only offered an ear that would listen and she knew he would be there when she needed him. When the nightmares became too unbearable, the nights too long and too short at the same time because she wasn't sleeping, when the paranoia didn’t let her do daily tasks normally. Steve was there, and so was Eddie after a bit of convincing and a lot of trust building.
“I know, mom, thanks,” She mumbled into his shirt and grinned when he groaned.
“Not you too!”
or: Max unofficially officially joins the family

Summary
He looked at him and his expression softened. “It may seem hard, and believe me it was and still is, but I’ve never been happier. Being free to be who I am and have a safe place is the best thing that happened to me. Eddie is the best thing that ever happened to me, even if I sound like a sap saying this.”
Will smiled and oh, he started crying again.
“The point it, even if the world is against you, fuck them,” That lured a chuckle out of him. “There is nothing wrong with you, or Eddie, or me. There is with the world that thinks loving someone is a crime and unnatural.”
They hugged for what felt like hours, but was likely just a few minutes.
“Thank you, Steve.”
“No problem, kiddo.”

Summary
After he tucked them both to sleep, Steve let that exhaustion from earlier wash over him again as he collapsed onto his bed, Eddie already in his pyjama pants. His boyfriend gently rubbed his back and Steve let out a content sigh.
"Rough day?"
"Fucking yes," Steve groaned into the comforter. "All I wanted to do the moment I stepped into the house was sleep for all eternity, but no. The kids had to be awake and demand my attention!"
Eddie smiled at him. "You love them."
"I do, unfortunately," Steve said, turning his head.
They smiled at each other for a moment before Eddie got up and threw his night clothes at him. "Let's get you changed, sweetheart, and then you can get your beauty sleep."

She liked the lazy and domestic atmosphere they created and it was one of the few times she felt safe and content. Here, playing with Eddie’s hair while her legs are across both Robin’s and Vickie’s laps as the two hold hands on her knee.
“I love you guys,” She sighed.
“Aww, we love you too, Nance!” They responded and she smiled.

Summary
“Don’t you two have work as well?” El asked. Her voice was still scratchy, but a lot better than yesterday. The candy Steve brought was helping a lot. Who knew that candy could be good for you?
“Nah, we took a few days off,” Eddie said, waving his hand dismissively.
“To…come look after me?” She asked slowly.
“Yeah, pretty much.”
“In another state?”
“Yes! Jesus, you kids need to get it into your tiny brains that we do crazy shit like this,” Eddie chuckled and ruffled her hair.

Summary
Lucas didn’t always like Steve Harrington.
He was the first to admit it without shame, because Steve Harrington was a dick. But he was also the one to begrudgingly admit that he had changed a whole lot since high school and that he was kinda cool now. Not that he was going to tell him, of course.
One couldn’t not admire the person that took the heat of Billy’s rage for him, started a fight that he lost spectacularly and then proceeded to protect them from demo-dogs while having a severe concussion and his face half swollen shut.
Lucas didn’t always like Steve Harrington, but he did now.
Or: How Lucas went from disliking Steve to getting with the system
