The core problem wasn’t the bar, or the lights, or the music, or his co-workers. Hell, it wasn’t even the fact that Nines came along.
It was just Nines.
Because he just looked so god damn good basked in blue with his hair flopped loosely over his piercing eyes, and his CyberLife jacket helpfully abandoned in the backseat of Gavin’s car.
Gavin’s mind was running a thousand miles an hour, and much to his chagrin, the drinks were not helping. Six months ago, he was introduced to his new android partner, and his gut reacted rather violently. Now, he was feeling a different type of churning down there.

Summary
The door of his apartment had never felt so daunting. Nines could feel his brain screaming thousands of questions at him. Thousands of possibilities. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t completely terrified. Gavin probably hated him. Probably wanted to tell him to expect an end to any relation they had, professional or otherwise. Nines knew his world was collapsing – and he knew it was his fault.
