Summary
Except… Sam isn’t there. Dean scans the nearby area, but his little brother is nowhere to be found.
“Sammy?” Dean calls, walking a few steps in either direction. The mall is fucking packed, but Dean can’t see Sam or that stupid bag. The pop music pumping through the overhead speakers that had only been annoying before is now deafening, and Dean can’t hear himself think.
Sam’s gone.
Or: Teenage Dean loses Sam in a mall. He does not take it well.

The words die, putrid and rotting on his tongue. Sam is bent over Dean on the bed. Dean’s hand is curled against Sam’s head, thumb on Sam’s cheekbone. Sam’s hands are braced gently on Dean’s chest, just above the bandages. They’re kissing. On the mouth.

Summary
Sam’s breath starts to shudder. Dean’s fucking freezing. His insides feel shaky and trembling like a small bird is trying to tear its way out, his fingers have started to lose both colour and feeling, and he can feel his thoughts slowing to a crawl. He’d hoped he’d have longer before hypothermia started to kick in.
They’re going to die in here.
Dean turns the dial again. Opens his mouth, asks:
“Garth? Anyone copy?”
Or: After a hunt gone wrong with Sam injured and a clock running out for Dean, Dean tries to reach Garth before it's too late.

Summary
Now though…Sam’s skin itches.
He looks back up at himself in the mirror, at the spot where Dean used to be. Even though they had found the hex bag (The master bag…The big sack, Dean had said with a leer) and destroyed it, Sam felt more wrong-footed then ever. As soon as it was over, and Sam took his first steps away from Dean in three weeks, it felt…wrong.
Or: After a hunt gone wrong leaves Sam and Dean literally attached at the hip for three weeks, Sam deals with the aftermath of it being over (and not necessarily wanting it to be).
