Summary
Wilbur scrubbed at the counter, tongue sticking out as he tried to wipe off the stain on the counter. He wasn’t sure when this stain appeared -clearly long enough to settle in. Wilbur sprayed the stain once more with a cleaning solution, using his cleaning rag and pushing all his weight onto the stain like that would somehow get it to come off.
He lifted up the rag, sighing with relief before throwing it around a hook. It was nearly closing time. Only about 15 minutes until 10 pm.
Wilbur sat down, drumming his fingers on the counter as he waited. Technically, he was the owner of the shop. He could just close up a little early. Most people don’t come to coffee shops this late.
He must have jinxed himself because as soon as the thought came into his mind, the ringing of the bell above his store door grew much louder.
Or, Wilbur Soot is a lonely man who doesn’t believe he can love. SBI prove him wrong.

Tommy sat down, panting as his tail wagged. Wilbur got on one knee, squishing his face and rubbing his cheeks exaggeratedly.
“I’ll see you in a bit, Toms.” Wilbur then pressed a kiss to his forehead. “You be good now. And I love you. Thank you for being my best friend.”
Tommy licked Wilbur’s nose in return, the man giggling before standing up.
Wilbur always told him that. How they were best friends.
That was what Wilbur was. Wilbur was his best friend. When Tommy was sad and in need of cuddles, Wilbur was there. When Wilbur was sad and in need of cuddles, Tommy was there. Wilbur’s tears would soak into his fur as he cried, leaving damp spots.
Tommy didn’t mind though. Of course not! He just licked that salty stickiness from Wilbur’s face and then they cuddled more! Or maybe Wilbur would throw a toy a few times.
Whatever it was they did, Tommy didn’t mind. Because they did it together!
The doors to the train shut, slowly taking off.
Or, Hachi inspired AU where Tommy waits. For a very long time.

He usually came in one or twice a week, asking for a repair or an upgrade. The boy was one of the most decked out teens he had ever seen. Both legs were prosthetics as well as his left arm and nearly his full right. Since he had been a customer at the Sleepy Mechanics, Tommy had had many new replaced parts. When Wilbur had first seen him, the kid still had both his eyes and his stomach. He had his left arm and right leg too.
Wilbur had asked what happened, trying to be playful. Tommy didn’t seem to want to give him an answer.
Wilbur frowned as he saw Tommy limp inside, his right mechanical leg torn off from the knee down.
“Kid. What happened to you?”
Tommy sneered. “None of your business. Just fix me up.”
Or, Tommy is in a fight ring and comes to Wilbur for repairs. Wilbur finds out his favorite customer works in The Pit.

Summary
Tommy was a leaf slug, AKA sea sheep. He had long rhinophores that extended from the top of his head. Others may know such things as antennae. Though his were softer and looked more like feathers. And the amazing “benefit” of being a hybrid of one of the smallest creatures on earth… He was small too. He stood at only a measly 1 foot and 4 inches.
On his back sat the “leaf” part of his name. These were called cerata. They were bundles of leaves that extended out of his back like he was a palm tree, expanding similar to a peacock. This helped him photosynthesize. He didn’t need much to do so, but the humans weren’t keen on letting him outside much. They didn’t let him go to recess with the other kids for fear of them getting hurt. And they certainly didn’t have enough people to keep an eye on him.
To make sure he didn’t run away.
So, Tommy was stuck eating the algae they provided him. Which wasn’t much, but it did the job.
Tommy sighed as he got in the car, buckling his seatbelt.
What human would want a mess like him?
Or, sea sheep Tommy and sea bunny Wilbur find a home in each other.

After a moment, his vision cleared of the hazy darkness, revealing the cat sat perched on the awning of a large building just across from the exit of the alley. It stared at him, eyes practically suffocating him from their fierceness.
Stay.
This was important. This was more than important.
Something big was about to happen, and for whatever reason Wilbur was entrusted by the force of all things magical herself to be a part of it.
Wilbur waited at the edge of the alley, waiting patiently in the shadows for whatever it was to come. He prepared himself. Prepared to jump in and sacrifice his very magic if he must.
He let his powers tingle just below the surface, invisible sparks dancing between his fingertips. It was as if the universe herself was beginning to swell with anticipation, her heart beating in time to Wilbur’s.
Wilbur was not the center of the universe, no. Not right now.
Wilbur was simply being welcomed to observe.
Or, witch Wilbur adopts witchling Tommy, only to lose his boy to hunters. But he’ll find him. That, he promises.

Tommy grinned as he saw someone walk past. He had a phone up to his ear and several gold bracelets on his arm. The man had brunet curls and was quite tall. So tall, in fact, that he wouldn’t even notice Tommy all that well.
Tommy sneaked up close to him, noticing the gold chain hanging from the man’s pocket. His hand was caressing it gently, thumb running over each individual chain. He seemed annoyed by whoever he was talking on the phone with.
Tommy would need to distract the man from his fidgeting. He knew just the trick.
Tommy rushed in front of the man while he was distracted, blending into the crowd as he made his way right to him. And just as he assumed, the brunet was too tall and preoccupied with his phone conversation to even notice the fact Tommy was there.
Tommy tensed, preparing for the hit.
Suddenly, the man yelped, tripping over his own feet as he stumbled over Tommy. The boy fell to the ground, teeth grit. But, as much as the scrape across his knees and face hurt, he got his prize. Tommy hid his smile as he pocketed the chain, standing up and brushing the dust and dirt off him.

Wilbur’s body didn’t stop trembling. It only grew worse as he approached the dragon, watching as it went from pitifully staring out into space to turning to him.
Wilbur gulped, exchanging placements with the guard already there.
The guard seemed happy to leave, throwing Wilbur the keys to their entire operation like it was no big deal. They patted his shoulder and wished him good luck before walking off into the black abyss that was the night.
Wilbur did his best to stand up straight, hoping the dragon wouldn’t smell his fear.
(Could dragons smell fear?)
Listen. Wilbur wasn’t a fighter. He never was one.
Or, Wilbur sees dragon Tommy and feels bad. He then frees him. The people around him are not happy with this development.

The six year old whined, still trying to wiggle out of the man’s hold. “I want out! You have to hurry, dad or else the rain will go away!”
Wilbur helped adjust the jacket, butting it shut. “The rain isn’t going anywhere, love. And neither are you until you get ready for the weather.”
Tommy leaned his head back in a groan. “But you’re taking so long.”
Wilbur flicked Tommy on the forehead, drawing the boy’s attention away from complaining to stare at the assaulting finger. His eyes crossed adorably, Wilbur holding back a coo. “I won’t take so long if you just stay still.”
Or, just the boys being the boys.

Tommy sighed, curling into himself from the corner of the room. Wilbur suddenly appeared in his face, chirps of concern leaving him. The man grabbed at his shoulder, poking his back.
“Are you feeling movement? Are they ready to start coming out? What’s wrong? Why did you sign?”
Tommy huffed, shrugging Wilbur’s hands off him. The brunet stopped, clicking with curiosity.
“Did I hurt you?”
Tommy pulled at his face, growling under his breath. “I’m just… I’m tired of all this!”
The three all froze, looking at each other. That only served to make Tommy angrier.
“You spend all this time preparing the room and the blankets and the stuffed animals and the medicine but you haven’t stopped to prepare me!” His voice cracked, feeling tears begin to form in his eyes.
Or, Tommy grows his wings. His family is trying their best to prepare.

Tommy’s eyes danced through the crowd, landing on a tall brunet that had a bag of chips and a hot dog in hand. He was currently sitting on a bench, chomping away at his food.
Unaware he was about to become Tommy’s next victim.
Tommy’s paws pattered against the roof as he made his way to the fire escape, hopping down each metal railing with a loud thunk.
As soon as he made it to the bottom, he rushed out of the alley and into the crowd of pedestrians. He jumped over and under feet, skillfully maneuvering through humans that couldn’t care less if they crushed him under their shoes.
As soon as Tommy made it to the bench, he put on his biggest pleading eyes and the cutest, tiniest meows he could project from his little vocal chords.
Meow! Meow!
Or, cat shifter Tommy and Wilbur meet, neither knowing the other’s secret.

He wasn’t sure how many more tests they could possibly run.
Tommy was the only known of his kind.
The only human immune to the virus.
Or, Tommy is immune to a virus that creates super humans. This causes him to be outcast from society. At least there is a kind nurse, who will give him a hug.

Tommy grit his teeth as he drummed his pencil against his desk. The papers laying across the wooden frame stared at him, taunting him.
This was Tommy’s first big quiz of high school. He couldn’t fail. He couldn’t be a massive embarrassment. His family always sung his praises about how smart he was.
He couldn’t let them down right off the bat. He couldn’t let them realize all his As were luck. Everybody could do that. It didn’t make him special.
Tommy rubbed at his face, feeling tears begin to form. He was going to fail. None of this stuff in his paper made sense. He didn’t remember learning about half of this. Was he just not paying attention? Did he miss it? Was everyone else going through the same crisis?
What if he failed?
Or, Tommy fears he may fail his test. Wilbur comforts him.

Wilbur had to make sure this went perfectly. He had to. He couldn’t mess it up this time around. This was too important.
This was Tommy’s first birthday with him. Wilbur had adopted the boy only a couple of months ago. He was labeled as a runner and thrown around in the system with little care because of it.
The poor boy was only 7. Well, 8 soon.
He already had gone through more than anyone should, and Wilbur knew it wasn’t much, but he could do something like this. Wilbur was going to make Tommy’s birthday a big deal. The boy’d never had a proper birthday before.
Wilbur was going to change that.
Or, Wilbur absolutely fails at giving Tommy a birthday party. But that’s okay, Tommy doesn’t mind.
