It works surprisingly well.(Features some mentioned background ships, vaguely permanent injury and character death (both off screen), some relationship drama, and not as much Pacific Rim as was originally intended. :()

And Jiang Cheng.Jiang Cheng in turn is a nervous wreck because Wei Wuxian has announced he will come to visit and also the nice daozhangs are probably going to leave (him) soon.
(They are almost (but not quite) on the same page about their relationship.
Jiang Cheng is just not sure he's allowed to have, and keep, nice things.
Nice things like getting two boyfriends.
