Summary
Excerpted from the diary of Kim Kitsuragi:
"As I've said, I have a fascination with hopeless, complicated, broken men, and Harry was all that and more. The way the detective moved through the world had me transfixed before I even knew what was happening - he was like an automotive accident personified. There was something tragic in his very nature, but I couldn't help but stare at the mangled metal shape he wore stenciled to his face, the strange expression that sealed away everything he dared to feel. It was only a matter of time before we became entangled."
Somewhere between a journal and a memoir, this canon-compliant retrospective penned by Kim recounts his temporary partnership with Harry du Bois - and the feelings that resulted.

Summary
“I just wanted to ask,” he continues, pausing to steel himself, “if you wanted to get brunch with me today? I could use the fresh air.”
ESPRIT DE CORPS — He was scared to ask you this – scared to come off as unprofessional. He doesn’t make friends with other cops easily, and he’s not quite sure how to approach something like this. This is personal, not about work. Keep it casual.
“Oh...!” you blurt. “Yeah, I would like that a lot!”
---
You didn't manage to warn Kim at the tribunal, and you've been wracked with guilt ever since. These things have a funny way of working themselves out sometimes, though, and when the lieutenant is back at your side, you realize how much his absence has made your heart grow fonder.Series

Summary
CONCEPTUALIZATION — Kneel. Prostrate yourself at his feet. His body is a cathedral, his touch a sacrament. Submit yourself to a higher power. Pray at his altar.
You lower yourself to your knees, favoring your good leg, and extend your hands forward so they are resting on his feet, which are still clad in black socks. Blood rushes in your ears as you arch your back and press your forehead to the floor.

Summary
Kim and Harry try out sounding.
PAIN THRESHOLD — It doesn’t quite hurt, not really, but the feeling is somewhere adjacent to pain. A kind of burning intrusion, the feeling of steel touching sensitive nerves buried deep inside you.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY — And yet, at the same time, you can’t possibly deny that there’s pleasure there, too. The sensation has a kind of intensity unlike anything you’ve ever felt—it’s apocalyptically disco.
