Jace was more of a mystery. He was always with Luke so he would play with them and explore Dragonstone with them but he was still very reserved and Baela felt like she didn’t know him at all, which wouldn’t do. She’s never liked not knowing something, and although she may not like the circumstances in which they became step-siblings, their parents weren’t getting any less married.

Summary
Rhaena huffed, “Why are you watching him again?”
“Because,” Baela said. It wasn’t any of Rhaena's business. Well, it was, because all of Baela’s business was Rhaena’s business but she wouldn’t understand it even if she explained so it was better to just not.
Rhaena silently watched them with her for a few minutes, “He looks miserable.”
Baela tilted her head. She wasn’t wrong, although miserable could often be used to describe Jace, Baela has decided recently that it’s just his face that made him look so serious all the time. Not to say Jace was bursting with joy, because he wasn’t even on the best of days, but he wasn’t nearly as somber as he seemed.
“He always looks like that,” Baela said, “It doesn’t mean anything.”
