Caitlyn gaped for a moment, at a loss for words.
“I’m not giving you to them.”
Caitlyn sat up as well, tossing the book back to the desk with a thud.
“Vi… they won’t–”
“You said you’re a good shot, right?”
Caitlyn nodded meekly, her face pinched in confusion.
“I know you kept that gun in the barn.” Vi remained determined, placing a hand over Caitlyn’s thigh as she spoke. “I saw it when I went to hang up your clothes.”
Caitlyn sighed, closing her eyes for a moment. “Vi. This isn’t a good idea. I’m not worth–”
“Shut the fuck up.” Vi scolded, rendering Caitlyn mute once more. “Don’t you dare say that about yourself. You’re worth fighting for, Caitlyn.”

“I don’t care who you are or what you are. Everything that I ‘give’ you, I give to you willingly–”
“Violet, what if one day I lose control and I kill you?” Caitlyn stood up, towering over Vi with watery eyes.
Caitlyn threw the shirt back to the floor and pressed both of her hands to her face, and Vi simply stood, stunned and unsure what to say.
“I feel like I’ve lost so many pieces of myself ever since… I know it might be silly of me to try, but….”
Vi sat down next to Caitlyn, their shoulders pressing against each other as she reached for the vampire’s hand.
“If that’s what you want to do, and what you really want to do, then I support you.” Vi relented, pressing Caitlyn’s palm to her cheek. “But it makes no difference to me, fangs and all.”

Caitlyn, tired of living her life as a blood thirsty vampire, seeks out a solution. A solution that comes with a heavy cost.
