Summary
"All waves have a positive and negative peak; that is, a ridge and a trough. In the case of a propagating wave like a tsunami, a drawback will occur as the shoreline recedes dramatically, exposing normally submerged areas. The wave trough builds into a ridge, gaining size and power, until it crashes into the shore, leaving a wake of destruction in its path."
