Dazai’s hand paused inside his coat. He thought of the words: Effective upon receipt. He set the folded paper down.
Kunikida stared at it for a beat. When he unfolded it, the crackle sounded too loud.
“Why do you have it?” he managed at last.
“To keep our resident kitten asleep.”

Ranpo paused mid-bite, the grip tightening, just in case someone wanted to snatch his weapon.
“Maybe I do.”
Dazai hummed in response and took another bite.
“You can do quite creative things with a fork.”
Ranpo let out a humourless huff. “You would know.”
“I would.”
“Which one would hurt the most?
“Depends. Who are we stabbing today?”
“Mori,” Ranpo said, no hesitation.
