Summary
One year after escaping from the circus, Jax has slowly come to realize that happy endings truly are nothing more than fiction. He's never been a kind or gentle person, but that's fine. He only ever looked out for himself. Though, it's not like anyone ever particularly cared for him.
And it's for that very reason that Jax attempts to kill himself on a Sunday evening.

Summary
A terrible tragedy befell Jax prior to waking up in the Digital Circus, which he was more than willing to put behind him. However, this is all easier said than done when Caine's latest game hits a little too close to home, when he finds himself trapped in a corn maze with the resident optimist herself, Ragatha.
However, with emotions running high, along with past misunderstandings and hatred, Jax highly doubts they'd ever come to a truce. Not that he'd ever want to be on good terms with Ragatha or anyone else in the circus, for that matter.
He was always alone, afterall. In both this 'life' and his previous one......

TL;DR: Caine's latest game sends the circus gang into a medieval fortress ruled over by an evil vampire king. Jax desperately tries [and fails] to not become the heroine of a cliché Gothic romance. But alas, that proves to be difficult when they all revert back into their human forms, and Ribbit is no longer that silly cartoon frog with the cutesy bowtie.
