“Is your girlfriend coming to the semis, Trinity?” Emma repeats, head tilting. “I haven’t seen Yolanda on the bleachers recently.”
“Oh, uhm–” Trinity pauses. “I'm not sure. I’d have to ask her again later,” she says, though she knows she won’t. Yolanda has an exam on Saturday. Unfortunately, it falls on the same day as Trinity's competition. “She has an exam on the same day; you know how it is.”
Or: Trinity tries to cope with the fact that Yolanda, now (finally) her girlfriend, has an exam on the same day as her competition.
