Shen Jiu the main protagonist
The characters of PIDW turn back in time before Shen Jiu burned the Qiu manor to the ground and slowly uncover the truth about all the crimes he was accused of. They become disgusted with themselves and wish to make amends but to their dismay Shen Jiu is already dead in this life.
That life passes and so do many others with all lives memories intact and no sign of Shen Jiu in any of them. They are reborn in a different era, all orphans in an orphanage that is directed by Qiu Jianluo to their horror. Just as they make peace with their fate and consider it deserved as they prepare to feel the same pain as Jiu only to be saved by a mysterious woman.
