It wasn’t fair. Charlie knew that, deep down. Adam hadn’t asked to be thrown into varsity; he hadn’t asked to be part of this mess, to be yanked from the Ducks to join the older team. But knowing that didn’t make it hurt any less. Knowing it didn’t stop the bitterness that festered in Charlie’s chest as he spotted Adam standing outside the campus gates, looking like he was waiting for something–or someone.
Charlie’s fists clenched at his sides as he approached, footsteps heavy and full of purpose. Adam didn’t notice him at first, but when he did, his blue eyes widened in surprise.
“Charlie,” Adam called out, his voice calm but cautious, like he was trying to avoid setting off a bomb.

Summary
Between their last year Eden Hall and the Junior Olympics, Charlie's head has been spinning. Trying to be a good captain and want the best for his team while his roommate is tearing himself apart is harder than it looks. Adam's been pushing himself harder than he ever has before, time running out to get hockey scholarships and he gets an injury he cannot afford. Eventually, he'll reach his breaking point.
