Summary
Georgia Clark was changing bandages, gulping at the look of the rushed stitches between his chest. He was asleep, his face was twitching before waking up. His breath hitched, his cold blue eyes searched for something, or someone.
One look was enough to tell how harsh war had treated him.
(This is an AU where Robbie lives but Cecilia has died, the OC is quite plane, you could self-insert if that's what you like)

" "Do you think she's dead, Miss Woodhouse?"
Given the fact that Briony Tallis had become a nice, red soup around a woodchipper that was floating in her swimming pool, Harriet's question was a tad bit irrelevant."
Collaboratively writing a timeless murder mystery for the ages, two brave souls take back what A-Level Literature has taken from them. They also both really want an A* xxx

Summary
When my high school English class studied Ian McEwan's (lovely) novel, Atonement, my teacher told us not to read ahead (for reasons that will be clear to you if you've read it or seen the film). The result of this was a small storm of crack rumours about what the mysterious plot twist was, of which a prominent one was that Briony, the creator of the story, was in fact a mermaid living in the Tallis family fountain. I was so amused by this that I promised, in the moment, to write such an alternate ending once we were finished the book. Some weeks later, in order to procrastinate on studying for my math midterm, I did do so: this is the result.
It is written as a fifth part to the novel (which has four actual sections), and continues immediately from the final line of the novel. It is silly, cracky, and all around pretty unintelligible, but I still think it's quite nice and decided to put it up for fun. It emerged from a brain very recently steeped in exam revision, and is thus extremely specific to the text. If you have studied it, take a look to see it all inexpertly and ridiculously dismantled by me!

Summary
"Dearest Cecilia,
The story can resume, our story can resume, the one I had been planning on that evening walk. I can become again the man who once crossed the Surrey park at dusk in my best suit, swaggering on the promise of life; the man who, with the clarity of passion, made love to you in the library. The story can resume. I will return. I will find you, love you, marry you, and live without shame.
The story can resume, I will simply resume."Robbie didn't die on Bray Beach in Dunkirk and Cecilia didn't drown in the Balham tube tunnels. But they face other trials and tribulations as life moves on, learning that rekindling their old life is not as simple as just being free.

Summary
"When a writer is born into a family, that family is doomed." - Czesław Miłosz
Briony Tallis's most famous novel was marketed as a true story, an attempt at atonement for a lie she told as a young girl. It took her nearly sixty years and three revisions to write.
Above all, Briony Tallis wrote fiction and didn't care if the truth got lost in translation. What happened after the Dunkirk evacuation? Cee and Robbie begin their lives in the midst of war. Briony becomes a novelist. Life resumes.
