Summary
Lexa was sure she would not see the sunrise. She was right and she was wrong. She never saw Polis the same again. Instead she woke up in a different place, a different time, as someone else. Up in orbit on a space station named the Ark, she saw the sun rise above the planet. In this other life her mind was seemingly picked up and deposited into a body at the very beginning of fated events. She found herself being someone else than who she was supposed to be, and she wasn't the only one. There were others from her past life on the Ark, those who did not belong. The same was true of the surface. Whatever it was that brought her here, time dilation, causality reversal, breakdown of Newtonian flow of time, the explanations and reasons mattered little. Lexa was presented with a chance to change her past, now her future, for the better. It had to be on her this time 'round since she was the only one who remembered. Though, that assumption would prove to be untrue.
AKA Role Reversal Time Travel Fix-It where right after 307 time gets reset to the Pilot and many characters get all mixed up between Arkers/Skaikru and the Grounders.

The capital city of the Grounders—Polis—is overflowing with people from all Thirteen Clans. The city burns bright with celebration as they commemorate the fall of the mountain. Laughter echoes through the streets, lanterns illuminate every corner, and merriment flows like wine beneath the night sky.
Yet the Commander of the Thirteen Clans is absent from the tower where she resides.
A sentry stationed at the gates claims he saw Heda leaving Polis beneath the cover of night with only a handful of her personal guards. He was ordered to remain silent about the excursion.
Why?
What matter could drive the Commander away in such secrecy and haste?
Is this merely a private rendezvous beneath the stars—
or the first warning of the strife yet to come? -

Summary
Most of Beta’s interactions with new people had so far been driven by a desperate need to see how potentially alike she was to others. It was refreshing and even somewhat exciting to instead approach someone from the opposite direction. With the assumption that neither of them will have anything in common and then, gradually, prove the contrary. Many Old World paleontologists had met their folly trying to prophesize the full reflection of a creature before they had gathered enough evidence to know what it looked like for certain. As though they could precognitively foretell the structure of a skeleton from a scant few fossils alone. It yielded a better result to slowly brush the dirt away with a delicate hand, square by square. In the end, you would always know more.
