Summary
I've been on my third re-watch of Hilda Furacão and am navigating the complexities or vicissitudes of my own romantic life at the moment, and felt inspired to write something... cathartic?
Hilda and Malthus have been taking an incredibly slow dance over the years; where will they find themselves eventually? This is a bittersweet tale of two people growing, together and apart, destroying themselves to rebuild anew.
I have lifted some lines from Jabu Translations' excellent English subtitled uploads (available here: https://jabutranslations.blogspot.com/) to support some of the dialogue in some scenes.
Next on my list is a read through of the novel I suppose!

Malthus and Hilda had planned to meet and run away by train together to Rio. However, amid the political tensions of the time, coup leaders managed to seize power and establish a military dictatorship, ordering the arrest of thousands of people on that very day, including Malthus, stopping him from catching that train.
Four years later, Hilda and Malthus's paths cross again amid the chaos of a protest against the authoritarian regime. Now, amid unspoken words and conflicting emotions, the two of them must figure out how to deal with the feelings they still have for each other while fighting to survive under the brutal repression of the military regime. -
