Summary
Michael Riley works as a Hunter, fighting natural and demonic monsters for the good of humanity. Yet after a disastrous incident, he's forced out of his element and made to work as a mentor for Anu, a recently initiated Hunter with a mysterious past and a dark reputation.
Eventually, the pair's journey leads them to the sleepy lakeside town of Amber Lake. Though the pair are quickly reduced to errand boys by the leader of the town, who so happens to be one of the finest Hunters in recent memory.
But when a simple missing person's case soon uncovers the true horrors hiding under Amber Lake, the town is soon under siege from demonic and monstrous forces, cut off from the outside world entirely by a group led by a man as charming as he is deadly.
With only seven days before the dark ritual is completed, Michael and Anu are forced into the fight of their lives, gathering the allies and supplies needed to defend the survivors in a race to not only save the town, but possibly the world.
Will the pair be able to defy the odds? Or will they fall holding the line, as all Hunters are destined to do?

In the second and final part of The Tainted and Tarnished Duology. Michael and the group plan to make their way to Colorado in order to cure both him and The Countess of their affliction, though after the bounty Sarah puts on them comes into effect, they are faced with enemies new and old as they race to survive long enough to cure themselves. Yet as they get closer to the fabled mountain where the cure lies, it becomes clear that they will need every single tool at their disposal to even have a chance of making it out alive. With new monsters, both human and inhumane in their way, the group must fight with everything they have as this story reaches its thrilling conclusion.

The Louisiana and Colorado Incidents were marked by bloodshed, greed, and a glimpse into what human beings find themselves able and willing to do in pursuit of their ideals. And then it ended, like a candle blowing out. With such a hurried conclusion, precious few answers were discovered and compiled, in an attempt to make sense of years of senselessness. All that can be said for certain is that two newcomers became living nightmares, and dispelled an evil with an evil of their own.
