Summary
“Your friend, Eleven, disrupted your assimilation,” Vecna explains, so close Mike can see his crooked, rotting teeth. “The others were gone in a moment, absorbed into my psyche, but you… linger.” His expression darkens on the word, bitter that things didn’t go as planned. “But no matter. It won’t last long. You are simply an echo of a dying mind. You’ll lose yourself soon enough. Lose yourself… to me.”
Dread settles in Mike’s stomach. Unlike the others, he doesn’t even get the privilege of a proper death.
This hell is just for him.
Or: Trapped in Vecna's mind, Mike tries desperately to hold onto a fading sense of self. Meanwhile, the Party in Hawkins struggle to pick up the pieces and prepare for their final confrontation with the evil that has overtaken their town.
This is a continuation from my s4 rewrite in which Mike never made it to California, covering the 18 months between s4 and s5. Read Part 1 first!!

Summary
The air is freezing, causing his whole body to shiver under his hoodie. And he is afraid. He is terrified when the goosebumps reach the back of his neck, his fingers brushing over it by instinct, a hand that is not his own resting on his shoulder.
It's not human. Crimson color fingers are making their way to his neck, nails long and sharp enough to slit his throat at the mere touch of it. Will's breath stops the moment he turns around.
"Hello, William."

Will and Mike are trying to navigate their feelings for each other living in the same house after eliminating Vecna once and for all. Or that's what they want to believe...Or, the one where they both have nightmares, but are too scared of what it could mean to admit it to one another.

Summary
Mike Wheeler has everything he’s ever wanted. A steady job. A pretty wife. A nice house on the cul-de-sac. He should be happy. He is happy.
But there’s something off about the idyllic suburban neighborhood he lives in. He keeps stumbling across strange objects in places that they shouldn’t be, and having bizarre dreams about another life. What’s more, he’s pretty sure that the man living in the house opposite, the one who wears a brown suit and fedora, has been watching him.

Summary
Another vine snakes into Mike’s hair and wrenches his head back toward the drop. His neck strains in protest as he’s forced to look down.
The height yawns below him; a vertical mile of nothing.
When his vision clears, something is standing over him, and it’s wearing Will’s face.
Time stamp; Stranger Things Season 5, Episode 8 (The Rightside Up, canon divergent.)
Author's Note: This is the sequel to “to the tempo of your uptight”. Highly recommended to read part 1 & 2 first. Cannot be read as a standalone.

Summary
Mike regrets not grabbing a second jacket.
The air in the Upside-Down tastes like church confession-booths. Murray's van is freezing, and his skin feels like it's burning, like one of those Sunday-school devils, horned, red and evil, are crawling under his epidermis and scratching at his nerves with a pitchfork.
Time stamp; Stranger Things Season 5, Episode 7 (The Bridge)

Summary
Vecna waved his hand, and Will dropped to the ground. Mike, still immobilised, watched Will panting on all fours. He desperately wanted to get up, run over to him, figure out what the hell Vecna had done to him, but his body remained traitorous.
He tried to call out, to get Will’s attention, but the sound seemed to catch in his chest and suffocate. He cleared his throat and tried again. Nothing. Discomfort sank in as he tried to regain his voice to no avail, mouth opening and closing soundlessly, like a goldfish.
An eerie, rhythmic ticking had crept into Mike’s periphery, raising goosebumps on his skin and setting him on edge.
A grandfather clock chimed nearby. A death sentence.
Or, Mike Wheeler gets Vecna'd!
A season 5 fix-it mostly from Mike's POV with a side of slow burn Byler. YAY

Summary
Mike sniffled as Will pulled back a little, just enough to look Mike in the eyes. “And even if it seems like he hates you, you know I’ll always love you, right?”
Mike nodded, tightening his grip around Will’s waist. “I know,” He breathed. “I love you too.”
‘But do you know?’ A familiar, raspy voice rang in his head. ‘No one could ever love you for very long Michael’ It reminded him.
Mike grasped Will’s shirt tighter, dropping his face to Will’s shoulder once again. “I love you,” He repeated, trying to focus on the feeling of the words on his tongue, rather than the banging in his head.
‘One wrong move and he’ll see you like I do. You’re too broken and afraid to be worthy of being loved by him.’

Summary
Dustin wasn't the only one who lost Eddie. Mike's grieving him too, but he can't complain, hardly anything's happened to him compared to the others after all. And that's just the way of things; he's Mike the Brave. A great paladin and the heart of the party. But things are different this time. Everyone's falling further and further apart. Dustin's not ready to let Eddie go. Max is stuck in her unexplainable coma, with Lucas all but glued to her side. El and him decided they were better off as friends after California, but with her training all the time and having to hide from the government even that friendship is slipping away. And then there's the Will of it all. A great chasm between the two that's existed ever since their fight in the rain and just kept growing each year like a weed until Mike couldn't even begin to guess how to bridge the divide.
Now Mike spends most of his time talking to an outsider who listens to his problems, ignoring his rapidly worsening symptoms, and generally trying to tape up the cracks in the party as best he can.

Summary
Will looked all-powerful…like a god. Not the timid, quiet boy Mike had known since he was five. He has had confusing feelings ever since he had known Will, feelings that had slowly evolved over time, but something about this moment had locked an ever-shifting question mark into place.
When Will’s powers begin to change—no longer tied to decay, but to something alive—the group realizes they’re not just dealing with Vecna anymore. They’re dealing with something new. Something that shouldn’t exist.
As past secrets about Henry Creel come to light, a pattern begins to emerge: power doesn’t come from the Upside Down alone. It comes from what it takes from you—or what you refuse to let it take.
And when Mike finally says the words he’s been holding onto for years, something shifts.
Because Will isn’t just connected to the darkness.
He might be the thing that breaks it. -

Summary
“You don’t feel the way you should about your girlfriend, do you?”
Mike breaks into a cold sweat, pulling even more ferociously at his restraints. “Please, don’t–” he rasps. He doesn’t know what Vecna is getting at; he just needs him to stop talking.
Vecna smirks and continues, “You don’t feel the right way about your girlfriend because... because you feel that way about him. About your best friend, about–”
“Don’t you dare say his name!” Mike screams.
Mike Wheeler is very good at being normal. But after being possessed by Vecna, a lot is brought to light – mostly that he can't stop staring at his best friend.

Summary
He threw his bag into his lap. Unzipping it, he fumbled inside before pulling out a smaller drawstring pouch. It clacked with the movement, and he opened it, before emerging with a small figurine.
Inbetween his fingers, he presented her with a small knight. His paint was scratched and worn from years of use. He had a sword and a shield, and his armor was pretty rough. He'd seen better days.
"This is Mike The Brave," he explained. "He goes on these missions called dungeon crawls, where he pretty much fights evil wizards and monsters and … stuff."
He bit his cheek, feeling a little self conscious.
"But … Mike The Brave is never scared. So whenever I feel scared or nervous, I just pretend he's with me, and I feel better."
Mike's hand fell, and he squeezed the figurine.
The body can’t live without the heart. On the night of a crawl, Mike Wheeler is taken.

Summary
Will returns to Hawkins before the quarantine hits, before Hawkins is sealed off from the rest of the world. He thought Hopper being alive and Jane escaping from the military would be enough to worry about. But his estranged best friend being in a coma after getting his limbs snapped by Vecna, is the cherry on top.
Suffice to say, he’s not having a good time. -

Summary
Mike and Will have undoubtedly endured more “Trials and Tribulations” throughout their friendship than most “normal” teenagers their age.
After returning home from Spring Break, the two continued to repair their relationship – following the challenges they endured before Will had moved, and during Spring Break.
The first few weeks were weird for Will, since he was in love with his best friend – who just happened to be his sister’s boyfriend. He often felt guilty, but couldn’t change how he felt about Michael. To him, Mike was perfect. Meanwhile, Mike had simply been doing what he thought a “normal friend would do” – as he tried mending their friendship – completely oblivious to Will’s feelings.
The two go on journeys alone and with the rest of The Party as their relationship deepens. As suspicions began to grow, they worked together to piece together information they’ve gathered along the way – to understand what’s going on between the two boys.
Although things seem fine throughout 1986, Mike, Will & the others experience immense trauma – not only caused by The Upside Down, but also by the people who should have their backs.
