Well, no, alright. He'd gone because he'd found out his old friend Montgomery Scott had been stationed there. He'd gone to save his own soul, if not to prevent Scott from getting himself killed. Not that that's a good answer. By all rights, it shouldn't justify this. He should've known what's good for him and stayed on Earth and shuffled papers around until he fell over and died, according to just about everyone else. But he couldn't stand that, could he. He had to go."
