Summary
Things with Louis are good. They are being honest with each other in a way they have never been before. The sex is stellar, better than anything Lestat had tried to replace it with in their years apart. Louis has miraculously reached a place in his own journey where he feels comfortable seeking Lestat out, being aggressively upfront in his affections.
And that is the problem.
Lestat is not sure why, when he has spent decades longing for Louis to return his love, he finds Louis’ attention so intolerable now.
Something is wrong. Lestat of the past would have begged to have Louis as he is now, extending gentle caresses and kisses and making the first move. But in the present moment, Lestat has to swallow down disgust and force himself to enjoy his lover’s attention. Something is wrong with him.
(Lestat is triggered by Louis’ increased attention, as it reminds him of Magnus’ attention prior to Magnus assaulting and turning him. Based entirely on my own experience of recently processing my own assault.)

He means to say it with rueful annoyance, as if to say, “so he ruined him.” But as Daniel’s text comes in—the most important question I should have asked you in that fucking interview: where do you buy coke in Dubai?—Louis’s voice trails off, his words maybe lacking some of the bite.

Lestat misunderstands what Daniel is to Louis and tries to be a champ about it. Meanwhile Louis rediscovers his drug of choice—Lestat.
